That sounds like a good way, maybe the early could be at the start of the folder or at a earlier point in the tree?
Honestly, I’d like to see a Nakajima Ki-52, Mitsubishi Ki-51 (with the option of changing weapons) and Manshu Ki-71 in one folder. Plus a Ki-51 special assault as premium.
Fair enough. Regardless of variants hope this passes.
Now I keep my fingers crossed that the Ki-51 will make it into the game and I will be able to take revenge on the Russians for their Il-2
Same with the A-36 in my case.
Honestly, for me the A-36 was never a threat. My M16 and Ki-44 turned the air into a sea of flames. Only the Il-2 could survive.
I love japanese 2.7
九九式軍偵察機/九九式襲撃機説明書
I found an interesting description in the Ki-51 manual linked above.
According to the manual, it appears that the gun to be fired can be switched by a selector on the control stick.
The top is for firing both guns, the right is for the right wing gun only, the left is for the left wing gun only, and the bottom is for the safety.
Firing is controlled by the top push button.
If you can use the left and right guns firing differently in the game, you may be able to save a small amount of ammunition.
Since there is already a separation between machine gun and cannon firing in the game, the implementation itself should not be difficult.
Wow it is really interesting. Funny way to save ammo while shooting.
During reading A7M manual I’ve found thing, what I believe works similar. As I understood here can be seen toggle switches for weapon selection and and among 4 guns you can turn off 3 and shoot from only one gun

From the table of weights, we extracted the part related to machine guns.
I write this assuming the weight of the attacker.
Type 89 fixed (2 guns): 25 kg
ammo and belt link: 19.2 kg
subtotal: 44.2 kg
Te-4 (including magazines, ammo and accessories): 14 kg
Spare magazines (14): 35.5 kg
ammo: 23.3kg
Subtotal: 72.8kg
Total: 117 kg
Reference (calculated from above)
Te-4 (without magazine): 9.8 kg
Magazine (with 68 rounds): 4.2 kg
If the above armament is changed to Ho-103 or Type 98, it will look like the following.
Ho-103 (2 guns): 46 kg
ammo and belt link (300 rds.): 30.6 kg (ammo: 86g, belt link: 16g)
subtotal: 76.6 kg
Weight change: +32.4 kg
Type 98 (without magazine): 7.2kg
12 magazines (900 rds.): 50.4 kg (Magazine with 75 rds. : 4.2 kg)
subtotal: 57.6 kg
Weight change: -15.2 kg
Total: 134.2 kg
Weight change: +17.2 kg
The weight change was not as great as expected.

Thanks to video and channel what was shared by tester188 this footages was found with Ki-51 starting with 250kg bomb attached under the fuselage
Looks like the nice references for 250kg bomb attachement
Also here can be seen Ki-48 with 500? or 800? kg bomb
Looking at how the Ki-48 jumps, it must be an 800 kg bomb, which makes it difficult for the aircraft to take off. According to this, a 500 kg bomb was a classic bomb load.
I gathered information on the Ha-26-II engine (Type-99 900 horsepower engine model 2) used in the Ki-51.
It appears to be an engine specialized for flying at low altitudes.
