Well, Willis Augustus Lee “Ching” is considered one of the few people given the title of Honorary asian and fought for it. Cause every ship under his command was taught to treat every weapon like a sniper rifle.

Which means when his ships fired at the Japanese in WW2, none missed. Mind you, this guy is an American and white. So if the asians are being impressed by him, it says a lot back then. The Fat Electrician made a video about him.

Sure. Why not.

Got some information from operational manual about early Ki-51 variant. Here is some additional information:

Te-4 ammo capacity:
For recon variant - 544 rounds (68x8)
For attacker variant - 1020 rounds (68x15)

About weights here is tabled from manuals but I can’t understand it fully, maybe someone will understand it

As it is said at book, 250kg bomb was field modification what could be easy to do. So I think not only late variant could take it and this bomb can be used for all variants.

Fuel tanks location. Total fuel capacity - 608 L

Interesting fact about bomb racks - it had the system that after bombs dropping to removes into the wing what reduce total Cx.

The most interesting - the possibility to use additional bombs.
In reality it could use 2 additional rails for 1 50kg or 2 15kg bombs per each. But it is said that this rails used only when Ki-51 equipped with skies.
Even with this I think it can use x6 50kg but not x16 15kg.

Argumentation:
Here is no words that this pylons can’t be attached with simple bomb racks and the only question is with electro connection to the racks, here is scheme

Spoiler

As can be seen, the bomb “computer” can control and drop 12 bombs, 6 per each wing

And interesting that 4 additional 15kg bombs is written as “5, 6, 11, 12” what repeat numbers from standart load. So it shows that it can take maximum 12 bombs and additional one take place of standart.
But for 2 additional 50kg bombs it is written as “5, 6” while standart is “1 - 4”. Remembering that it can take up to 12 bombs, connection of 6 50kg looks real and I believe all variants could take up to 6 50kg bombs even at not skies configuration.

As it was said probable total bomb load: x6 50kg

And this scheme shows the bomb release sequence

I partially translated the weight table in the manual.
99襲_重量表_英訳追加
This table is for an early type equipped with a Type 89 fixed machine gun x2 and Te-4, so if you want to use a Ho-103 or Type 98, you will need to modify the calculation.

The total weight of the attacker is calculated with 4 x 50kg bombs.
If you want to use 50 kg x 6, you need to add 100 kg + α (e.g. bomb rack).

+1 Maybe folder the 3 variants together so more options in ground rb and air ab?

The differences between Ki-51 are not big. The best would be the forder Ki-51 and Ki-71

I looked at the ki-71 and I get what you mean, would still would be neat to see all 3 variants added somehow.

They may add the late Ki-51 along with the Ki-71 to the tech tree and the special attack variant as a premium

That sounds like a good way, maybe the early could be at the start of the folder or at a earlier point in the tree?

Honestly, I’d like to see a Nakajima Ki-52, Mitsubishi Ki-51 (with the option of changing weapons) and Manshu Ki-71 in one folder. Plus a Ki-51 special assault as premium.

Fair enough. Regardless of variants hope this passes.

Now I keep my fingers crossed that the Ki-51 will make it into the game and I will be able to take revenge on the Russians for their Il-2

Same with the A-36 in my case.

Honestly, for me the A-36 was never a threat. My M16 and Ki-44 turned the air into a sea of flames. Only the Il-2 could survive.
I love japanese 2.7

九九式軍偵察機/九九式襲撃機説明書
I found an interesting description in the Ki-51 manual linked above.

According to the manual, it appears that the gun to be fired can be switched by a selector on the control stick.
The top is for firing both guns, the right is for the right wing gun only, the left is for the left wing gun only, and the bottom is for the safety.
Firing is controlled by the top push button.

If you can use the left and right guns firing differently in the game, you may be able to save a small amount of ammunition.
Since there is already a separation between machine gun and cannon firing in the game, the implementation itself should not be difficult.

Wow it is really interesting. Funny way to save ammo while shooting.

During reading A7M manual I’ve found thing, what I believe works similar. As I understood here can be seen toggle switches for weapon selection and and among 4 guns you can turn off 3 and shoot from only one gun

From the table of weights, we extracted the part related to machine guns.

I write this assuming the weight of the attacker.

Type 89 fixed (2 guns): 25 kg
ammo and belt link: 19.2 kg
subtotal: 44.2 kg

Te-4 (including magazines, ammo and accessories): 14 kg
Spare magazines (14): 35.5 kg
ammo: 23.3kg
Subtotal: 72.8kg

Total: 117 kg

Reference (calculated from above)

Te-4 (without magazine): 9.8 kg
Magazine (with 68 rounds): 4.2 kg

If the above armament is changed to Ho-103 or Type 98, it will look like the following.

Ho-103 (2 guns): 46 kg
ammo and belt link (300 rds.): 30.6 kg (ammo: 86g, belt link: 16g)
subtotal: 76.6 kg
Weight change: +32.4 kg

Type 98 (without magazine): 7.2kg
12 magazines (900 rds.): 50.4 kg (Magazine with 75 rds. : 4.2 kg)
subtotal: 57.6 kg
Weight change: -15.2 kg

Total: 134.2 kg
Weight change: +17.2 kg

The weight change was not as great as expected.

Also here can be seen Ki-48 with 500? or 800? kg bomb

Looking at how the Ki-48 jumps, it must be an 800 kg bomb, which makes it difficult for the aircraft to take off. According to this, a 500 kg bomb was a classic bomb load.
