Maybe we can get SPEAR 3 for EF and Gripen eventually. A 90kg subsonic cruise missile with 140km range and IOG+GPS+MMW+SAL guidance and two-way data link. (Check inboard pylon)
Yeah. ive been wanting GNSS or GNSS+SAL Spear-3s for a while now, just to give us something a bit spammable like GBU-39.
But so far been denied because “it has too much range”
Isnt that a Tpod?
I meant to point out the SPEAR 3 vs the Brimstones next to it lol. But too much range? We’re already there with the IR glide bombs basically. Without MMW it wouldn’t be a drastic improvement over them seeing as they wouldn’t autolock when terminal and have significantly less explosive.
Tell that too gaijin
Hopefully NT makes it easier to convince them to add these solutions. I know EF is slated to carry 12 but idk about Gripen. Probably 16 but I’ll maybe wait until more info is released before adding a bug report. Maybe as a suggestion we can ask for MMW guidance to be turned on for NT at least.
Gripen E will probably also be limited to 4x3 mounts so 12 too, though Typhoon can probably run up to 18 in theory (6x3)
True they have that glide bomb look so I was going off that but since it is a 3-rack like the brimstone then 12 makes sense. I’d be fine with 12 SPEAR + 8 SPICE lmao. Or 16 SPICE + 6 SPEAR for more total bombs.
Japan is missing it’s ir bombs it has in real life the F2 can carry 12-18 I’m pretty sure and they’re 500lbs
in my opinion they should add the iron dome and end with this shit spam of kh 38
LOL… you mean that thing rocking the 2 to 5% intercept rate currently?
wdym? the iron dome has 90% intercept rate
and they are absolutely busted IRL, it is said that they couldn’t use the GCS-1 in a harbor since the seeker would go for anything ‘brighter’ than the target, mainly kitchen or others.
Unless you’re refering to the Ke-Go that I really want to see in-game. A WWII IR seeker would be very fun against boats, but F-2A never got it (lol)
Yeah… so did the Patriot system in desert storm one… Same bloke that exposed that fraud did the same with “iron dome” and other air defense systems in current conflicts, only 2 to 5% of interceptors actually succeed in destroying the warhead of incoming missiles. It’s irrelevant if they just hit the missile body as the warhead still hits close enough to get the job done.
It’s great against “home brewed” rockets, drones and aircraft, basically useless against even moderately modern missile systems.
Give me the Swedish Patriot PAC-3MSE (LvS 103) fr fr
They will add it when Russia gets an antiair with X20 missile pod to intercept all of em with one load
+, somehow they will add a better missile than this for russia meanwhile the SPEAR will be absolute shit
How do you think will this even work? Imagine a map like Advance to Rhine or whatever. These huge, clumsy launcher units and the omnidirectional radar array of the Patriot battery. It will be overrun on the ground within minutes and the Radar only covers a certain sector. Even more compact SAM units like Iris or Flarak are very hard to play. On some maps you get sniped already 30 seconds after spawn, cause maps are so small and not made for these high up trucks.
it mostly intercepted subsonic or low speed targets , unguided rockets , mortars etc
i checked the max speed of the kh 38 and in normal scenario it will intercept it easily
like the max speed of the kh 38 it is 2.2 mach but only in the perfect scenario
Even as an iron dome defender, it simply wouldn’t have the time to react with an interceptor to a KH38 launched anything short of 20km away, the laser is a different story but iron dome needs the incoming munitions to be in a terminal attack path (or Arc) for a successful intercept.
While the KH38 lofts to target, it is simply too fast and typically hits at an acute AoA which would be very difficult for the kinetic interceptor of an iron dome battery to connect.
This same logic is why a SHORAD system is better at intercepting munitions than a static missile defense site in war thunder, as the engagement ranges and munition speeds vary wildly to irl scenarios.
20km away it’s definitely not a particularly hard target, 10km like in-game it’s not happening.
