One would assume that one of the most modern APS in the game (or ADS - active defense system, as Rheinmetall calls it) would not suck ass.
Not the case!
The APS on the KF41 is absolutely dog. You’re lucky if it stops the most basic TOW. ATGMs from helicopters? Keep dreaming, even tho that’s exactly the type of threat it was designed to counter, along with drone-launched ordnance.
What could be a great selling point for the KF41 and a great gimmick - nigh-invulnerability to helicopters and drones, is actually a giant downgrade to the less advanced PUMA. And compared to something else in the Italian tree - the Freccia is a much better choice as well, due to higher amount of Spikes and much better mobility.

its missing an armor plate between the aps and the fuel tank+superstructure. When that gets added, it should stop the defeated missile’s damage better…

Unfortunately, they passed is as a suggestion.

Had a funny moment in KF41 the other day.
I crested a ridge, and the APS actually saved me from a missile. Was so shocked by this, that I felt a sudden rush of confidence to crest again. It did not save me the second time lmao.
The consistency (or lack thereof) is wild.
Especially annoying is the fuel tanks behind the APS, so even when it does ‘work’, congrats, you’re now on fire lol.

I laugh even when I test in test drive. 2/4 times it engages the I-TOW fairly well (you only get hit by a bit of shrapnel), 1/4 times you get set ablaze and 1/4 times you just die completely. And that’s just against I-TOWs., a sub-sonic ATGM with less than 3 kg TNTeq.
