Is there any oblique way to specifically use this plane to the best of its abilities, if so, what playstyle works best?
As far as I know, it’s basically a Ki-61 with a radial in playstyle, so play it like that. dogfight most people except zeros, spits are doable but difficult if you don’t know what you’re doing. Get used to the guns and boom and zoom those. Learn scissoring and other maneuvers,

Use your rudder lots. Use sim controls if you’re starting to lose. I’ll take it out later tonight and get back to you if I remember. I’m at school for another 3 hours but after that I’ll check it out. It’s not actually something I’ve personally played so my tips are relatively limited. It’s somewhat of a cross over between the Ki-61 and the Ki-84, so play it like both depending on your enemy.
Now the tip with sim controls, I’m not saying play the fight in it. What I do; is I have a button binded to change control modes, if I get someone on my six and I can’t shake him, I’ll let him catch up, avoiding his guns as much as possible while keeping speed up. Once he’s close enough, I flick myself into sim controls to override instructor then I pull hard back on the stick, maximum rudder and aileron and I go into a spin. This usually takes them by surprise and they overshoot. Only issue is that this KILLS your speed and it leaves you vulnerable for 5 - 10 seconds afterwards. Do NOT do it when you’re in danger of being third partied, and it takes a LOT of practice to get the timing down but once you do it can save you so much.

if someone’s above you and diving, turn your aircraft one direction, pull in a horizontal circle, just before their wings are lined up with you, hit opposite rudder and aileron to reverse your turn, they won’t be able to follow you easily, just before he overshoots do a spiral climb up above, you’re on his six, but he is a lot faster. his two opions are to extend or dogfight.
Ki-100’s were retrofitted Ki-61’s aka improvements of the original design. Aka different wings, weapons, propeller but a certain part of the fuselage remains the same.
Hey man so funny story, I just bought this exact aircraft and remembered you were asking about it. I find it very easy to use like a hurricane. If you have any idea how that plays, that or a P-40 Warhawk. How has it been going anyway?
