As you know, the most important and famous japanese destroyers still not launched in game.

The Kagero class destroyers were a class of destroyer built for the Imperial Japanese Navy during the 1930s.The lead ship of the Kagero destroyer class and inheriting her name from a storied predecessor that took part in the Battle of Tsushima during the Russo-Japanese war in the early 20th century. On paper, a total of twenty-two Kagero class destroyers were planned, eighteen under the 3rd Naval Replenishment Program and a further four under the 4th Naval Replenish- ment Program;however, as three of these were a dummy for the naval budget of the Yamato class of battleships, only nineteen were ever actually built. All were completed by September 1941, and assigned to the vital Destroyer Squadrons at the outbreak of war in the Pacific later that year. While outwardly somewhat similar to the ships of the preceding Asashio class, Kagero class vessels were in fact designed as an entirely new class, and could be said to represent the pinnacle of Japanese Navy destroyer design: displacement of 2,000 tons, with a top speed of 35 knots and a range of 5,000nmi at 18 knots.
For the main armament,Kagero were armed with three twin 12.7cm guns in type C turrets (maximum elevation: 55°),with supplementary fire provided by two twin 25mm Type 96 gun mounts.

Perhaps most importantly, Kagero class ships were the first designed with ability to use the formidable Type 93 “long lance” torpedo from the outset; they had two quadruple 61cm torpedo tubes for this purpose. The Type 93 used compressed oxygen in its propulsion system to great effect, allowing range of up to 20km, quadruple that achievable with preceding technol- ogy. Moreover, they traveled at up to 100km/h and left far less noticeable vapor trails, leading to greater stealth.

Actually,Kagero is the preced of Yugumo class in game, they are almost the same. You can tell them apart by their ship bridge,Kagero got a beati face, shorter hull.

Late modification
There already enough 6-gun destroyer in JP techtree,so I want to focus on introduce Kagero late mod. From 1942,the surviving Kagero class underwent modifications, the twin 25mm were replaced by triple mounts, and another twin mount was added forward of the bridge(reference Hayanami in wt).Later in 1943, one of back twin 127mm turret was removed and replaced by two other triple 25mm Type 96.

Armor plates were also installed on the bridge to enhance protection against small-caliber weapons.(since 1942, some frontline ships have had)

They also update the radar.Type 22 search radar is mounted on the main mast, and a Type 13 air radar on back. These perform poorly, and not matter in the game.

Shiranui,the second ship of Kagero

Launched in 1938,active with Destroyer Division 18 in the early stages of the Pacific War.At the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor, she is a part of the escort for Admiral Nagumo’s Carrier Strike Force. In January 1942, Shiranui escorted aircraft carriers Shōkaku and Zuikaku to Truk, and onwards to Rabaul to cover landings of Japanese forces at Rabaul, Kavieng and Salamaua. She deployed from Saipan on 3 June as part of the escort for the troop convoy in the Battle of Midway. Afterwards, she escorted the cruisers Kumano and Suzuya from Truk back to Kure.On 28 June, she was assigned to escort the aircraft carrier Chiyoda to Kiska in the Aleutian Islands on a supply mission.5 July , she was hit amidships by a torpedo fired by the submarine USS Growler, which severed her bow,she back to Maizuru under tow, where she remained under repairs until 15 November 1943.During this time she received the modifications mentioned above. After that, she returned to perform escort work.

In the game
Shiranui has excellent anti-aircraft,slightly inferior firepower to other Japanese destroyers allowed her to stay low BR,maybe 4.0 ?All in all,she can fill japan’s shortcomings in air defense.Kagero had a big family, hope any members can launch in wt.
