That’s the thing, the HUD isn’t even correct. The 3D model is incorrect and is the same model used on the JL-9 trainers. And judging from the one lower res image we have of the second pilots seat, the HUD doesn’t look like any we have in game. Furthermore, the HUD for the J-7E/Q-5L is a fantasy HUD they made up. Nobody, Gaijin included knows what the HUD’s actually look like. Yet the J-7E HUD has proper functionality and displays radar locked targets and has the bomb fall line.
I do not need to provide ‘sources’ for these bugs to be fixed. These need sent to the devs because they likely didn’t realize that these features weren’t on the J-8B HUD they copied and gave to the JH-7A.
Very low res image of the HUD, unfortunately the top blurs out but it matches quite well with the HUD from the above images. Further proof that our current in game HUD is incorrect.
Any idea what the symbol on the right side is (above the 05, circle with line up?) Could this be the radar lock indicator? What about the smaller circle with 3 prongs behind the W?
Im not really much of an expert on this, but both could be radar contacts. I know aircraft like the Sea harrier Fa2 and Tornado F3 would show radar contacts in the HUD, not just locks. So one could be lock, the other could something else on radar. Or the difference could denote IFF
@Flame2512 could you also take a look at the HUD’s I posted above? Or do you know anyone on the forums who better understands the symbology of the HUD’s? Gotta admit my knowledge on what they actually show is lacking.
Also, here’s an older model of the HUD (this one is from the Q-5D but shares a lot of the symbology):
@Gunjob I know it’s been a busy time on the bug report site, but when you get some free time could you either look at this bug report: Community Bug Reporting System or bump it to somebody who specializes with HUD reports as it has almost been a month. In all honesty, the in game HUD of the J-8F is almost the correct HUD for the JH-7A, Q-5L, Q-5D (if it comes), and J-7E; it is just missing some of the markings.
