GAU-8 would get much scarier lol.

its GSh-23-2, it a double-barrel 20mm cannon. It shoots two barrels in turns.

Ohhh

It’s kinda pointless

why not one barrel?

Because there is a limit on how fast the guns action can cycle in a new round, you get around that by having multiple barrels.

For ROF of course.

what is rof???

why, it made it shoot twice as fast.

Rate of fire.

Mucho barrels mucho damage.

Essentially you have 2 or more barrels, one of which fires while the others are going through the ejection and reloading cycle, there is also “revolver cannons” that do the same thing with only one barrel and a revolving breach a bit like an old school 6 gun.
Here is a really good breakdown on the concept with the M134 minigun:

Its not only the JF-17 that uses this gun

other planes that use it:

  • Mig-21
  • Mig-23
  • J-10
  • JH-7

(i probably missed some)

and there are a few other aircraft that can carry that gun in gun pods

ok

The recoil from 1 barrel reloads the other barrel.
