History
Hayagumo-class Patrol Craft is Japanese small patrol boat used since 2000.
It was build for fisheries monitoring in median line between China and Japan. At first three boats were built, but due to its high-speed performance was good, JCG decided to replace old Murakumo-class PC (30m-class).
Hull is similar to Asogiri-class, but due to reducing the size of the superstructure, reducing the weight of the hull, and changing to a pump-jet, max speed was increased to over 36 knot. (Unofficially its max speed reaches 40 knots)
First three boat (PC-105, 106, 107) used conventional 12.7mm M2 machine gun, but late models used 12.7mm GAU-19 rotary gun with RFS unmanned turret.
Also, two boat of this class built by Sumidagawa shipyard exported Sri Lanka Coast Guard in 2018.

Weapon
GAU-19 on RFS system
Originally The GAU-19/A was designed as a larger version of the M134 “Minigun”. It have very high rate of fire and accuracy.
In Japan, only this class equip it. On JCG vessel it is mounted on “RFS” mount which is similar to JM61-RFS. Turret type is similar to latest model who has angular silhouette.
Different to JM61, there is no information that the rate of fire is intentionally lowered. JM61’s ROF was decreased because Japanese maritime JM61 was developed from JM61-M, a manual-controlled JM61 on 20mm Oerlikon gun’s mount, so requirement was around 500rpm. However, in case of GAU-19 ,requirement was just it is 12.7mm caliber gun and it is possible to mount on remote-control turret.
