Jas39E Missing Extended Wings/Flaps

The Gripen E is both a great plane and a underwhelming / underpefroming plane ingame. Gaijn decided to add the Jas39E - 6002 which is the first production model of the Jas39E. With the 6002 ingame we got IRST Searcher which was not fitted on the real life Jas39E-6002

By adding a IRST makes a lot of people question why did Gaijin not add extended flaps as well then? the 6002 did not have extended flaps / wings but neither did it have an IRST (the IRST came after some time on the 6002), balancing? a miss in modelling?

The new wings are designed like the old Saab Draken for extra maneuverability and me, and many others i have spoken to thinks this should also be added to the Gripen E ingame.

I really find it weird that they “Cherry Picked” the IRST and not the Extended Wings as well. Let me know your thoughts!

i really find it weird they cherrypicked the weight from a completely different variant so it’s nearly a ton lighter than it should be… but the new wing would at least make it a more unique flight model so why not :D

I agree, they cherry picked a lot here.

Because 6002 is on Saab’s website with IRST, and without the extended wings.

@YEARoftheEAGLE
It’s at most 770kg lighter, which isn’t “nearly a ton”.
Cause you have to add ~85kg of mass to the War Thunder empty mass to get the “Basic Empty Mass” of the aircraft.

how much exactly is debatable and up to the dev - a/c are modeled off of having nearly their full stated basic empty for their current empty masses (6750 in-game not incl. pilot, ammo, oil (which are an additional 238 kg!) vs 6800 saab), what should make the 39e any different in this case? perhaps it’s reportable (once they ever decide to bring back empty mass reporting) and making a case for basic empty mass in fact including those masses, but those can vary by country and by manufacturer. i’m not interested in splitting hairs over wording where 800-900 kg potential weight diff is very much nearly a ton

The C should be corrected, and that’s another matter.

A better thing than to use 6002 because we have images of 6002 with the IRST and extended wing and then without the IRST and with the extended wing. A better example are the current in service Brazilian Gripen E’s

This is pretty clearly the main design for Gripen E production models as some of the new unveiled ones for Sweden also have them.

Yeah, i’d love to see a proper external modeled Gripen E with extended wings + the IRST, not just one of them.

There is already an accepted report about it ( Community Bug Reporting System ) and there is already a discussion thread on the JAS39E here:

Yes, surely. But as you said, both features are in their pictures on the 6002 which questions why did gaijin cherry pick one of them? i’d rather have bigger wings than IRST since we can not fire amraams from the IRST for now (it can in real life, and i think other planes can with IRST) which kind of makes IRST quite useless at this point of time. At least not useful for its purpose.

Great! could not seem to find it so i decided to have my own thoughts about the situation come out freely.

It’s not cherry picking.
It’s deciding on a camo that works with the variant they chose for the game.

The vehicles are decided months prior to the camos.

It is quite literally cherry picking one feature over another when the plane they decided to go with has those features. They could easily fit the camo for bigger wings like SAAB did in real life. I don’t really think the camo is the issue here…

I think if they wont change the wings then they need to change the name. Gripen E is blatantly wrong if you wont change the wings. It should be renamed to Gripen E prototype if we are going to keep the short wings

100% agreed with u.

Im just adding context is all
