JAS39E Gripen cockpit is not usable

First of all, I am aware of that we have a general discussion topic about Gripen E, however, as we progress through a mountain of problems with our new beloved Gripen, cockpit modelling is something that certainly needs close attention. There are a few important problems I have found with the functionality of HUD and MFDs. Mind you, these are not for aesthetics, rather problems directly affecting the gameplay and pilot’s performance. I would also like to add that these functionalities are compared to other planes in the game, therefore, not asking any new feature to bring but implement the simplest things that are already in the game. These might be simple but very useful if the pilot knows what s/he is doing.

I will try to explain the missing functions or unusable ones with the bug reports and you can all find the screenshots in these links.

1- The first one is that the fact that MFDs are not readable. Gripen E has one of the most advanced cockpits in the world perhaps on par with f-35. Even with many missing features in game, it still offers important data to the pilot. However, unable to read the MFD makes it completely useless. For reference to others, please see the link, discussion and screenshots below:

(even though it says RWR for the sake of bug reporting, unfortunately, the whole MFD is not readable)

2- JAS39E Radar MFD not scaled to map BUG: Gripen E pilots have one of the best situational awareness out there. With the help of radar and datalink the gripen reflects where the enemies and friendlies on to your MFD map which makes the pilot’s job hell of a lot easier to find whatever the pilot is looking for. Incredibly important function implemented wrong. Not only useless but actually harmful. Link below:

3- JAS39E current cockpit model error: This is more of a roundup bug report, not mine but i believe the player would like to have the function to use the bigsreen as one MFD.

4- JAS39E Gripen cockpit radar does not show whether on or off: Radar showing on or off is an important feature as we switch the radar off in many situations for example in a dogfight if your oponent loses visual of you, you would not want to give away your position or if you know where your oponent is but don’t want to give away your own location. Right now there is no indicator whether the radar is on or off. Link below:

5- JAS39E Gripen in cockpit radar not showing the type of radar: It is not possible to use the radar when we don’t know what type we are using, TWS, SRC etc. As you can see in the screenshots in the link, other aircrafts do not have this problem.

6- JAS39E Gripen not having a marked indicator in MFD map: When bombing, or simply guiding your way to a location, it is important that the MFD map in the cockpit to have indicators guiding you where you mark on the map. There is also info on distance and how long it would take you to go the marked place at current speed as well as how many degrees right or left you are off from your targeted area. Screenshots in the link belong to f16 and su30sm, however all the top tier planes have this functionality and it directly affect the gameplay and the pilot’s performance.

7- JAS39E Gripen not having a marked indicator in HUD: Similar to the topic above, HUD is missing information as well. You can see the screenshots in the link below:

There could be more problems with the cockpit of Gripen, however, these are the functions that I use the most when i am playing other planes.

Performance of a plane is not limited to its airframe, engines or the armament that it carries. Cockpit is the pilot’s home and it all begins there.

I think he means when the target point is outside of the HUD perhaps? There is no indication of what direction your mark is if it isn’t already directly in the HUD, but there is indeed a target point indicator in the HUD.

Yep. You usually guide your way with the mfd map with an arrow then when you face the direction you want, you can see in many planes that there is a countdown of how long it would take for you to arrive to the marked point by which you can estimate how far away you are from it.

Yeah, no, when you are in a dogfight you cannot possibly zoom in and out all the time when you wanna see where the ping of planes, missiles etc. RWR or as a matter of fact the whole MFD is not readable when not zoomed in, that’s the whole point.

Edit: you gotta know whether the ping is geound targets, enemy aircraft and which type of aircraft and missile and it is impossible without zooming. There is also no center point in the RWR which makes it incredibly hard to figure out the degree that the ping is coming from and to notch the missiles.

this exists:

Then i recommend maybe adjusting your report to reflect that a bit better :)

Will do that! Thanks!
