Hey I remember that photo from a book / publication from the CMH (Center of Military History) and the caption was exactly that as I recall
Aye! I vaguely recalled seeing it while doing research for a paper
Great Find on the photo Jon.
If anyone pays true attention to my post, I’m not opposed to it being used, I even mentioned where I think it would be the best placed in MY opinion (I don’t have a mouse in my pocket so I can’t say “WE” instead " I " is used).
I’m just opposed to the normal Tech tree because they (Japan) never produced it.
heck I’m opposed to the T-28 in the US tree But there it is… NOW I applaud where they put it as it was a prototype, but not placed in the NORMAL tree.
+1, this vehicle served in actual combat units, the kind of captured units I do support for the game.
I agree with the principle, and as long as a nation has enough domestic equipment to fill the gap then there is no need for it in TT as such. Japan has sufficient vehicles at this BR. Israel in particular would rely heavily on captured equipment for their low tiers, if they come.
Event or Premium only, I’d say it’s too low BR for a Squadron vehicle.
Shooter, 6 years UK tanks myself and now contracting for you guys.
o7
Good to see a Brit on here. Always love doing joint operations with you guys. Just a ton of fun to be had
You think the BR is too low for a Squadron Vehicle? hmmm…
I’m sure you have your reasons and thoughts on that. You might be right.
I just figured if placed correctly and at low enough points it could be a easy entry into a squadron vehicle for some that are just starting out on a tree that just refuse to buy it. And as a incentive for some to join squadrons was my thought.
(BTW still grinding away on my first Squadron vehicle, and it will be a while before I can use it in the US tree. Next will probably be the Bhishma in the UK which again will be a while )
In most cases, captured vehicles are premium/event vehicles. In the information about creating suggestions it is marked not to suggest the br classification and not to suggest where it should go. That’s why I didn’t suggest what kind of vehicle it should be. It would be best if it was an event vehicle, but a premium one would also be interesting
Squadron vehicles are mid-to-high BR “free premiums” that any player can earn. At low BRs grinding the tree is generally not a huge deal even for free players, and from my own experience it was only after reaching BR 6.0-8.0 that I started to see little progress per game. I think that a Squadron vehicle works better in the mid tiers (7.0+ or post-1945) where having a premium vehicle in a lineup is more beneficial in terms of reducing the heavier grind at those BRs.
The Japanese M3 could be hard to identify in SB and lead to complaints, so I wouldn’t want it to become too common by making it a Squadron vehicle with low RP threshold.
Of the two, Event vehicles become rarer over time, while regular Premium vehicles tend to be more common. I would put it as either.
Well Gents (Grzegames and l2ulan)
Thank you so much for explaining that to me. Squadron vs event and Premium vehicle status, points taken.
And it looks from the poll that this should have enough support go ahead.
Yeah I can see that point as to complaints
Interesting I had not really thought about that aspect.
Pretty much every captured tank in the game was rare because they tended to get shot at first. A6M2 in the USA tree existed as a single example - the Aleutian Zero.
However unlike the Aleutian Zero, these M3s were used extensively in combat by japan - a lot like the myriad of captured tanks that germany gets as premiums.
Old tank is in museum for old tanks, who coulda guessed. Yeah only 4 were built, but the T95/T28 is still a really interesting tank.
USA tree doesn’t need any of those, its a very well rounded tree.
Pretty slow, unarmored, mediocre guns. The Ha-Go was pretty good when all your enemy has are a few MGs, but that’s not what happens in WT.
Hell naaa! Strongly aggainst anymore copy american vehicles in japanese tree. There are so many japanese vehicles that can be added to low tier. - tho please not like Ka-Chi - an intereasting japanese vehicle as 1 time premium NO never again… meanwhile american vehicles get added to regular tech tree??
Things that can be added :
Shi-Ki (command version of chi-ha)
type 4 Ke-Nu
type 5 Ke-Ho
type 3 Ke-Ri
To-Ku
Chi-ri 1
Ka-to
Ho-ni 2
Type 5 Ho-To
etc.
I have good news for you, some of these vehicles are on my list to suggest, so they will appear on the forum soon
It would still help make the tech tree less rigid.
