Since the chinese are getting BA-11s for the Z-10ME, i believe its a good time to improve the Viper.
The AH-1Z sits at 12.0 with just AGM-114s, meaning that in 99% of matches you play with it there will be at least some form of high tier SPAA that will make it nearly impossible for you to hold LoS in order to use your (incredibly slow) missiles.
Considering this, i believe it would be best to give it AGM-179 JAGMs and bring it up to 13.0 with the AH-64E Guardian, as the USMC has tested them on the Viper and declared them as having reached IOC since March 2022.
In my opinion this would be a great change, both making the Viper actually playable and also offering a better looking alternative to the AH-64 which i find to be incredibly ugly.
what I think would be the best move would be the AH1Z only the SAL JAGMs but leave it at 12.0, like that it will be competitive for its BR while staying at a different BR than the 64E
and 64D should probably go down to 11.7, which would mean there isnt any overlap in BRs
I think that it being the same BR as the 64E is fine personally, there’s nothing wrong with having 2 options for the same BR.
My problem with the SAL JAGMs is that laser guided missiles for helis in the year of our Lord 2025 are doomed to be mediocre at best regardless of the model. With the kind of SPAA you commonly see in the 12.0 bracket you are going to spend 99% of your time “dodging” SAMs or straight up dying on your helipad if the map has no cover for you to duck under.
If the enemy team has 1 half competent SPAA player you wont ever have 10-20 seconds to hold LoS till your missile hits, so you have to rely on incredibly inconsistent IOG for most of the travel time and hope your missile isn’t shot down the second you duck into cover, then hope that the SPAA doesn’t pre-emptively fire a 2nd missile at you while you are in cover so you can actually peek back out and lock him before your missile slams into the ground and you have to re-do the whole thing again.
Also the Viper looks a lot better than any Apache, so on that alone i feel it should be given the best loadouts it has access to IRL.
I still like the viper should have gotten the jagm last update, like i understand the ah-64E was the big US addition for that update so they wanted it to have it but, it would have been just fine with SAL ones due to the irccm, while the Viper would have been more balanced exchanging the dlirccm for the fnf capability until the fix or addition of newer spaa that can properly contest helis as they should.
The RWR on the Viper needs to be fixed. If the Viper were to receive the JAGM, its BR would likely increase to 13.0. However, the ancillary systems on the AH-1Z in the game are clearly the most inadequate. As a vehicle that entered service around the year 2000, its systems are inferior even to those on the AH-64A, which would make its performance at a 13.0 BR absolutely disastrous .
I believe the AH-1Z has modern avionics, RWR, and LDIRCM in real life, it’s just not modeled in game yet
AH-1Z should stay 12.0 instead of moving to 13.0 with JAGMs.
If I want a 13.0 helicopter, I’ll get the AH-64E.
Maybe they add a 1Z late with LDIRCM and JAGM and all the other newer features and upgrades
You can get the AH-64D for 12.0 then.
The Viper is a newer airframe, looks cooler and uses JAGMs irl so it should get em and go up.
Its currently a paperweight because Hellfires dont perform well at 12.0 with the sheer amount of SPAA that can completely prevent you from having LoS for more than a few seconds, the JAGMs would make it competitive and fun again and the glorious Viper deserves that.
Nah, I prefer the AH-1Z.
AH-1Z is already competitive as well.
The AH-1Z is many things, but competitive isnt one of them.
You get nothing but hellfires at 12.0 with consistent uptiers to 12.7, enough said.
I’d rather relegate the 64D to that torture nexus and have the viper, the cooler of the two, go up and become a proper top tier heli.
If you prefer the Viper, you still get the 1W which is nearly identical gameplay-wise minus 8 hellfires and at a reasonable br to top it off.
AH-1W is not AH-1Z.
I don’t want AH-1Z nerfed with your suggestion.
It’s fine where it is instead of being 13.0 alongside AH-64E.
AH-1Z is at a good BR right now, it’s a good aircraft.
I don’t like the JAGM-MR missile which lacks sufficient information. I’m more looking forward to adding real JAGM or other weapons to the AH1Z in the future, rather than this JagM-MR that has never been equipped on the AH1Z before.
not really, the 1W optics suck, despite an accepted bug report while the 1Z has better optics than the ah64
“Nerfed” lol, lmao even.
Its a 12.0 helicopter, it might as well be 13.0 already with how often full uptiers happen specially now that 11.0 and 11.3 practically don’t exist anymore.
Tweaking it so that its at the BR it always fights in anyways and giving it weapons fit for said BR is objectively a buff.
If nothing else then they should at least do the early/late version thing with it, like someone else suggested, though even then I’d rather they just upgrade the currently existing 1Z and add the early variant.
Uptiers are not a reason to harm its BR.
Also 11.3 is booming because of how OP it is right now.
Really? Too bad for you, I see you on nearly any post regarding U.S. vehicles and trying to keep them at a terrible place. You can cry though as a bug report has already confirmed that this helicopter will be receiving AGM-179s Community Bug Reporting System. Not exaclty sure why you’re such a hater for American vehicles.
forwarded as suggestion means nothing, that report is two months old
It has been accepted, try again.
