JA37DI Discussion

Personal experience is not reliable, in game data is, look at the data, the 7F is better

I’m not exactly sure why, but the 7F seems to react slower to someone evading at closer range, or maybe the missile just takes a longer time to get up to speed, which would make more sense

maybe Thrust/sustainer issue?

In this case I dont care what your personal experience says when raw info on F-4J and other jets clearly indicates it being one of the most capable platforms in 11.7-12.3 bracket.

If you base everything on charts then it doesn’t hold much weight, you can see that most fox 3s seem to be better than the aim 120 on charts, but in game the 120 is by far the best for bvr

I am looking at the chart, it does accelerate slower, but has no guidance delay

I never said it wasn’t capable, I just said it isn’t the best

They have “dogfight” labelled because they are dogfight version of regular AIM-7E model. Every model after AIM-7E-2 retained and even improved on dogfight performance

The data also says that the AIM-120 is the best FOX-3, wdym?

I’d be open to test this in game if you’re open to it

Sure thing, how do you wanna test it?

It doesn’t, the 120 has the least pull and has one of the worst delta V’s and booster power, the mica and R-77 seem to be a lot better on paper but they both have much worse energy retention

We can both headon each other, I’ll use the 7E-2 and you use the 7F, we test from 5km, 3km, and 1km

Not the best when you consider 12.3 but still the best up to 12.0. Personal experience doesnt change facts

I been training a lot of BVR and a lot of Fox-3 for teh Air Supperiority tournament, i can tell you that the data says the AIM-120 is the best, for BVR, in less than 10km every missile is better bc of the better maneouverability

I prefer the Mig 23, J-7E, and the JA-37C

Sounds good, do we shoot it and evade or we launch them angled(?)

If we also consider 12.3BR jets with them.

then MiG-21Bison with R-27R or M2KC with Super 530D shows up and own the F-4J’s AIM-7F. right?

Edit: oops, tagged wrong F-4F in position to F-4J/S

Which data says that the 120 is the best for bvr, because I’m pretty sure there’s no measurement for how good a missile is at bvr

We both shoot them and try to evade in a headon, in the same plane ideally
