JA37DI Discussion

Viggen Di is going to be in the TT as Viggen late; folders under the D, identical to the Di.

What? WHAT?

F-4F change is bs based on nothing but German players whining and “statistics”. It has no place at 13.0

I am glad it’s coming to the tt because I’ve been waiting for a viggen with amraams for a while now, not because I think it’ll be good but because it’s probably gonna be fun to mess around with

Sadly the flight performance of a Viggen is way worse than any F-4 it faces

The F-4F will be at 13.0 as well while having a better RWR, IRCCM IR sidewinders, and 2 more missiles in total. If anything it may even be a bit overtiered atm…

Yeah thats how it functions currenly

That’s just the job of the Viggen at this point

I mean you can’t really blame them, it was getting constantly uptiered to 13.7 and fighting F-15Cs, F-16Cs, Gripens, etc, all of which are better than the f4 in every possible metric

RWR’s, have to be reverted, it’s ridiculous

Not the experience I’ve had when playing the AV-8B+. They always seem to need hard lock guidance to receive flight path updates against targets in my experience, as TWS never updates their trajectory.

Wouldnt say way worse. Its worse if you play it like F-4 or hold the S key without thinking. It just requires more from the player but actually offers more in return.

The AIM-120 doesn’t need constant updates though, does it?

It does until it reaches 16km, then it goes terminal

If you just fire it and lose your tws or stt lock then it’ll use ins to head towards the last known location of the enemy while tracking where it thinks the enemy is gonna be

If you like to bvr then having a lot of DL channels is very helpful, that’s why the F-15 is gonna dominate bvr for a pretty long time, since it has 8 channels. If you don’t bvr and usually fire missiles within 20km then you don’t really need to worry about how many channels your plane has

When its own radar is not locking an enemy target, it’s essentially going in blind given it can’t constantly track the target. By using TWS with Datalink channels (datalink and its channel count will be shown in xray when hovering over the radar) you can provide updates to its flight path so it can guide itself into range of the enemy plane and gain a lock with its own radar when it’s within ~18-16km of it.

The harrier IIs with AMRAAMs still perform objectively equal/better than the F-4F ICE due to the modernity of their airframes and systems, don’t get me wrong the phantom is definitely usable but no way should it be sat in the top BRs, it’s still a 3rd gen airframe like the J-8F and Harriers at the end of the day

Personally i played both and had a better time on the Phantom J than the JA37D, the RWR being better, having HMD, more SARH missiles, the energy retention, idk how i manage the get the KD i got on the Viggen, but i recall suffering, a lot

I think 13.0 is a good spot for it, it’s getting rolled in an uptier, and it’ll be above average in a downtier
