JA37C / JA37D - Rb99 Discussion & Future changes

Having a Ja37C with 9Ls and chaff would be a slight nerf compared to what we currently have. What I find makes the Ja37D a great 12.0br plane is not just the 9Ls, but the extra 320 flare/chaff pod it gains, giving it a total of 368 flares/chaff. This allowed the Ja37D to not worry about flares as if you ran 50/50 flares and chaff, there would be 184 flares and 184 chaff. The Ja37C with chaff pod would only allow it to have 48 flares maximum, which is overall worse than what we currently have.

From what you have stated previously,

adding a Ja37 early would have no flares which would not be a good option. If there is a Ja37 Early with flares, then I’m completely fine with this idea, but if not then I would rather have the Ja37C in its current iteration and then another Ja37D to have Rb99s to fix the issue.

Currently, in terms of grinding, the Ja37C with a tailsman is arguably the best way to grind for top tier sweden compared to the J35XS or the current Ja37D with a tailsman, as it has a favorable BR, with great flight performance and weaponry. To change this with a Ja37 Early without flares would really hurt the grind for Sweden considering the BR of the J35XS, and how at 12.0br, while the Ja37D is a great plane, it really suffers with an uptier to 12.7 and 13.0br, which if we implement your upgrades for the Ja37C would essentially face the same issue, but have less flares compared to the D variant.

and those have been massively nerfed and should be WAY stronger than they are currently. Full strength BOL would be an amazing buff for some many aircraft.

Actually what makes the Ja37D extra flares so good, is that it’s not BOL pod. It is literally extra flare/chaff pods that have normal flare luminescence.

The best way to describe it would be the extra flare/chaff pods that the Mig 29 SMT has.

See the issue is that it did have flares and it has exactly what the JA37D has, the Ja37C is a redesignation of the original Ja37 to help differentiate it from the JA37D
So that argument doesn’t hold up

A better idea is what I suggested

Ja37 as how Ja37C is rn or J35F2 maybe J instead with falcons
Ja37C with everything JA37D has in game
JA37D with RB99 and RB74M
JAS39A with RB99 and RB74M and Boy 402 and RB75T
Remove Jas39C

The Ja37 got flares before the C mod ever existed, both Boy 401 and Bol 451

See now gentleman, if we have ourselves a goosey gander at this here link, you can see it is serviced from 1987 onwards

If we take ourselves a second goosey gander we can also see the Ja37C is a re designation from 1993 just so you can differentiate between the D and not the D which is why the link says Ja37C/D

“In the mid-1990s, extensive modification began, with the working name MOD package D (David) linked to a major program change CD ED 34 and later CD ED 36 of about 30 selected JA37 individuals at F16 and F4 for adaptation to new fighter robots and countermeasures and for international conduct. Hereby, new designations were required to distinguish them from the unmodified JA37, whereby the modified ones received the designation JA37D and JA37DI (International Status) and the unmodified aircraft the designation JA37C.”

This is purely to clear up any confusion people have with the Ja37 and it’s countermeasures

Except it is BOL and does have massively nerfed luminosity and chaff effectiveness

It is one of the aircraft listed in the bug report for BOL Flares:

and says BOL on the mods screen

are you confusing it with the AJ37’s CM pods?

Though the JA37s have got Large Calibre CMs, which might explain why its less felt than it is on say the FA2

Adding onto yours, this is the countermeasure pod on the non fighter variants

https://www.aef.se/Avionik/Notiser/Kapsel_KB.htm

Yeah, its almost like the BOZ pods found on the Tornados, but slightly smaller

Do you have anything to show it’s bigger? All my sources just say it’s different because it’s British and not Swedish

Edit: I found out why

I was just going by the fact the AJ37 is 24 large calibre flares per pod and the BOZ pod on the Tornado is 28 large calibre flares. But it could just be a modified BOZ pod but I really dont know. I dont know a lot about swedish gear

And like many other things, the snail got it wrong

And but wait, there’s more

Have you done a bug report or a suggestion on it?

There’s no bug as it’d be a repeat of “Ja37C missing ____” but no I haven’t made a suggestion because I don’t have the time
But the top tier Swedish fighter line has been very shoddily made with less foresight than the British in the early Cold War

If I made a suggestion it’d be to re do the entire line after the J35D and it’d be arguably quite controversial as it would involve culling the JAS39C until the likes of Aim 120C-5 or even IRIS-T if badly needed
Other nations such as the Finnish F 18s could fill until that point

Problem is gaijin doesnt remove so that just wpuldnt worl also you’re argument falls flat after ive argued with simn over the gripen.

Yeah I know, Sweden is essentially buggered when it comes to historical accuracy for their modern jets
Gaijin have done it so poorly since the viggen

Only thing i could suggest would be to ask Smin and try to see if your evidence would be enough for it to even be warranted as a suggestion

I dont have every screenshot but i have argued a lot with the gripen A ever since its introduction and the C model will honestly fall flat going forward as by the time we get Iris T and such i feel as though ECM will be a factor of which the NG and E do that role better than the MS50 C model

Honestly it doesn’t even need to be filled by another viggen, the Ja37C can be replaced by the J35J instead with falcons so it’s actually decent, all aspect IR missiles and Radar missiles but a pulse radar and no countermeasures would fit quite well where the Ja37C currently stands

By replaced I meant it’s place in BR
The ja37 will stay just at a higher br with better stuff
