Yeah, also for me as Britian. Im not actually that bothered by the Gripen and rather looking forward to the Sea Harrier FA2. Even if its gunna be an underdog

Later Tornado F.3s also get plenty of AMRAAMs to carry. They’ll probably perform just fine given the range of the radar.

Yeah, its just they are gunna struggle defending against ARH and unlike at 11.3. They are stand absolutely 0 chance in any semblence of WVR vs even 12.0s.
Hopefully… Embarrasing those pesky F-15Cs and Su-30s in the FA2 is gunna be satisfying

Add the JA37DI as a prem at 12.0-12.3 and give it the RB99 and RB74(M), best of both worlds I guess.
Would be cool, but not as a prem imo. Make it TT and folder it with 37D or something

Aircraft should be given their historical weapons or be labeled with a “early” “late” variant.

That’s basically what I am suggesting by giving the JA37C the Rb74 and chaff dispensers. It would have the identical affect as keeping the current JA37D as is

We’ll likely get some sort of J35J / J35F between the J35D and JA37C to fill out the performance gap over time.

The JA-37D was built in the mid/late 90s and retired just a couple of years later due to severe budget cuts for the entire Swedish military that left all the armed forces gutted in comparison to earlier.
It was intended to remain in service until the mid 2010s.

Now that the dev stream is over I feel like this post makes even more sense given that:
- The J-8F gets PL-12s
- The F-4F ICE gets AIM-120s
- The Sea Harriers get AIM-120s at a low battle-rating
- The British Tornado F.3 Got a later variant with AIM-120s
Im not saying we should also add a “JA37D Late”, im just reincentivising my previous suggestion of giving the JA37C the JA37D weaponry and just handing the JA37D its intended Rb99s to make both aircraft historically accurate while still fitting into the tech tree more properly.
I mean China literally got this exact solution with the J-8F that experiences the same Fox-3 gap between the J-11 and J-11A.

I very much agree. It also makes sense to have the JA37D in the first place, as its main reason to exist was to carry Fox-3. If Gaijin really doesn’t want an 11.7 with those missiles, I doubt many will mind seeing it at 12.0. All they need to do is give it its accurate radar range, as a bug report stated. Sure, its flight model will be bad at that BR, and the F16s will just destroy it, but that’s true for the harrier, too.

I mean the current difference between the JA37C and JA37D is negligible at best. Having Rb74s and more countermeasures is a huge benefit for only a .3 increase.
The JA37D at 12.0-12.3 would still fair much better than the F-4F ICE regarding overall flight performance and avionics. The JA37D in general has fantastic defensive measures and high top speed allowing it to stay alive against more incompetent players. Sure it would be on the lower end of performance, but since it can carry four Rb99s it would still be equally as capable offensively as it is right now.

That depends on when they change the fm of the viggen to be worse after the “bug” report goes through. Regardless its the fact that 11.3 plays mainly 12.0 and 11.0 plays 10.3 to 10.7 more often in my experience. I hated flying the ja37D because the radar missiles definitely work but for anything past 6km i wont fire because i cant trust them to perform like aim 7F/M.
No yeah that’s definitely true when it comes to its current limitations. the Rb71 works great when people get close and personal but it’s definitely the worst performing radar missile at its current battle-rating. Which is also why the JA37D would massively benefit from the Rb99 since you get an additional two radar missiles, as well as ample compensation in both range and maneuverability.

Again its a glorfied missile bus as is. I already dont like the JA37D and playing it for AMRAAM at 12.7 wont be worth my time for rb99. Also without a better radar it would be the worst of the 12.7 vehicles.
