I think we had the same like the Swedish, and ours had proxy fuses (see the ocre strips just in front of the brown part of the wings, I think those are the fuses…):
Interesting… I thought the entire argument why we never got Falcons was because they supposedly didn’t have proxy fuse which wouldn’t work in game/be too crap but apparently not…
The Draken could really use some.
Yup I know, it was meant to hit bombers iirc, and if I’m not mistaken, the H variant was the only one with a proxy, however it was cancelled.
The only one in US service with a proxy fuze.
@CorporalApollo
RB-27 was based on AIM-26B which itself had a proxy fuze
https://old-forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/570246-swedishfinnish-aviation-qa-questions-and-answers/page/4/
Finnish maintenance manual for RB-28 mentions an “influence fuze” which I take to mean a magnetic influence proximity fuze
I’m kind of at a loss as to why Falcons haven’t been added, both the AIM-4(A-G)s and AIM-26B, along with their Soviet counterparts, the K-5s (R-5MS, R-55) and K-8 (R-8, R-98/M) haven’t been added to the game. Yes they weren’t particularly good missiles, but they were an important stepping stone for the missiles we have today.
except the swede ones DO have a proximity fuse and are kinematically and in terms of guidance superior to early sidewinders, which are in game
I did not know that the Swedish had proxy fuse ones. In that case, I’m all for adding them.
Found this pic here of a Swiss AIM-26.
Interestingly it’s marked as AIM-26A, but twith an additional marking saying “Retrofitted to […] AIM-26B”.
Especially, note the most right marking “Danger - Do not Look at Fuze Antenna…”, confirming it has the proxy fuse I mentioned before:
Ok, so my literature search confirmed the FALCO’s were officially part of the Mirage armament until the very end of the Mirage IIIS era in 1994.
In the later years they were rarely carried however because of their by then very limited use, and the MIRO’s relied on their all-aspect IR-guided AIM-9P-5 mostly.
(Do not quote me on this, just going off of what I have read previously)
I thought the Swedish AIM-4s were fitted with proximity fuses? Honestly, even if the weapon itself is a pile of garbage it’s still worth having in game. If the 511 gets to exist, then the AIM-4 should too.
Aaand I just saw the replies
(my bad)
With falcon coming next uodate i hope we get them to all nations that used em, especially sweden
so far no luck.
My poor boy J-35XS lost a gun for those darn missiles, he should get them.
Spoiler

:P
But yes, should be added and might be enough to move them back to 10.7
For a second, this made complete sense to me.
I might be overtired.
The F-106 is in the game with AIM-4 Fs and Gs. why does the J35XS not have them yet? Any version of the Falcon would be nice to have on the Draken.
That is because of the laser fuze, right?
Even with the proxy fuse the missile is only be usable at around 2.5km and less against fast targets, which would make it worse than the r60 that the Mig-21s carry at the same br. The most likely reason is Gaijin doesn’t care much for adding stuff to the J35XS because they are “satisfied” with its performance, this goes for a lot of historical issues of other vehicles, they are usually shelved permanently if they think the issue is not a big deal and they dont want to alter the performance of a vehicle. (the J35XS is also missing a gun lead indicator and they have accepted the bug report ages ago and still nothing)
All Draken variants had a radar lead indicator, not just the XS.
Aaand the J32B
