Patches come and go, but the story involving Chinese vehicles is always the same.
After J10C, the almost there dragon ( He’s always almost there, but something is always missing usually fuel, CM, and performance.)
After the J15T toothless shark and from the same creators of F-16 MLU Block 20 "VIper "flavor.
We now have the J16 Hidden Dragon…And it’s incredible how the same mistake can be repeated four times.
The J-16 was meant to be China’s best 4.5/4++ generation fighter; we are talking about the crown jewel of China’s 4.5-generation fighters.
The Chinase indigenous topdog…This fighter should feature the very best; the WS-10C (without TVC) engine (already in use on the latest batches) and a Gallium Nitride (GaN) AESA radar (which, in-game, is inferior to the SM-2’s pesa radar), You’ll need to have the double racks, just like the J15T.
This fighter is set to be the highlight of the Chinese tech tree; it should be to the Chinese tree what the Su-30SM2 is to the Russian tree. In fact, the SM3 standard currently under development is precisely intended to bring the Su-30 as close as possible to the J-16.
And currently in the game, the J-16 is inferior to the Su-30SM2; the J-16 is merely a sidegrade to the J-15T (which is the worst 14.7).
I find it incredible how only Russia has the “what if” factor on its side.
Let’s take the MiG-35 and your AESA radar as an example… which exists only in theory, the only MiG-35 squadron still uses mechanical radar (N041R)
I understand why it was added to the game with the AESA radar—precisely because it is the most modern MiG-29 in existence and the last of its lineage. It ought to have the absolute best features possible (even theoretical ones) because it represents the end of the MiG line in the tech tree; it needs to be the crown jewel and cap off the line on a high note.
It’s actually well known that the MiG-35 is compatible with TVC—there was even a technology demonstrator featuring it—so I’d think it would be amazing and really cool to have it represented in the game with all its best features (including the theoretical ones).
The problem is that, in the vast, overwhelming majority of cases, only Russia has this “what if” factor.
When it comes to non-Russian vehicles, NATO vehicles, and especially Israeli and Chinese ones—there is no “what if” factor or “it’ll be cool” factor; there is only the pessimism factor plus Murphy’s Law.
It is always assumed that the vehicle will be the worst possible one, arriving at the latest possible time and at the worst possible moment.
Could you guys add a bit of a “what-if” factor for China and the other nations? Is that asking too much?
No, there’s only 37 in the Russian air force that uses the radar N041R.
Edit: In fact, it is Russia’s biggest export failure; even its own air force didn’t want the fighter.
It’s not worth it at all; the nation has been completely ruined.
Neither Gaijin nor the player base can bring themselves to view China as a major nation.
They are orphans of Germany; they still insist that the nation is a major post-Cold War era .
Basically, Gaijin sidelines the nation so it doesn’t overshadow Russia, and the player base enables this behavior because they can’t bring themselves to view China as a “major nation” and think it’s wrong for it to have more content than Germany.
there is no such thing as su30sm3, make sure your info right.
its not even out yet, same with F15CGE, 99% think its DOA, 2 months later, best 14.3. patience must you learn
the whole chinese top tier plane are made on what if, so much less info.
no, because mig35 normal is just a copy paste with no carrier capable of the 29KR.
add it with current avionics and its copy paste, make it unique with russia only top tier aesa and now its baised and not fair
take side or dont.
its not, 9.15 is, not 9.41.
keep lying to yourself, lets just ingnore the eurofighters who are close but not in service.
If your worldview is a complete dichotomy, don’t project it onto me.
I’m not forced to pick a side, so I want to have fun (which is rare in War Thunder, but it happens sometimes) with as much of the game’s content as possible—and that includes playing as many nations as I can.
edit :
This doesn’t apply only to China, but China is the one that suffers the most from it; as mentioned in the post, the worst-case scenario is always assumed when it comes to Chinese vehicles.
China is like Italy and Israel. Unless you’re a national or want to try a different flavour of the same thing, then it is not really worth it. Like 90% of the Chinese TT is Copy/Paste of American and Soviet tech, with some splash of their own tech in the higher tiers which still rides heavily off of Soviet Era tech or modernised versions of it.
Imo the J-16 could use some love like dual PL-12 pylons on Sta. 3/9 like the 15 gets. But the rest the stuff is lowkey ehhh? If gaijin wants an early J-16 representation in game for now then I don’t see an issue with that. We could, and imo should, get a newer batch J-16 later with all the bells and whistles; and give it the longer range missiles when they inevitably come. Having a seperate newer version, at a higher BR, with newer missiles in the future would be a nice bit of diversity anyways.
