J-8F problems collection(MAWS, PL-11, IRCCM missiles)

Yes in game.
No irl.

what does it change from the aspide?

Objectively speaking, the PL-11 is the missile with the least documented information in the PLAAF. The limited information indicates that: first, the seeker of the PL-11 is derived from the Aspide, possibly as a direct copy or a technically improved variant; second, during its final qualification test in December 2003, the PL-11 was launched from a J-10 (non-A variant) and successfully hit a target at a range of 100 km, which would be impossible for the original Aspide. Therefore, it can be reasonably inferred that the PL-11 incorporates a new rocket motor and features IOG with datalink capability.

from the photos, I guess the motor’s length didn’t change, the middle fin servo stopped the motor to be longer.
I calculated the PL-11/Aspide’s lsp, it’s 182.61s, as I remember, modern solid propellant can do 240s, so that can be a jump.

The rocket motor improvements I was referring to are more akin to the transition from the AIM-7E to the AIM-7F, but there is no documentation indicating that the PL-11 adopted a dual-thrust rocket motor.

Probably apparently there was pl-11, pl-11a with inertial guidance then terminal Sarh , then it seem to also be a pl-11b with active radar?

There may have been virtually no distinction between the PL-11 and PL-11A. Prior to the successful 100 km test at the end of 2003, the PLAAF effectively only had the Aspide as its medium-range AAM. The so-called PL-11B was actually a product of a competition with the PL-12, and according to researchers’ recollections, their proposal was rejected due to its conservative design before they even had the opportunity to fully elaborate on it.

Well I mean except from the IR one there aren’t much indication of the existence of PL-11A anyway.

that PL-11AE is not the PL-11A mentioned here.
AE is alost another totally different missile

I find it hilarious how NOBODY wanted an arh sparrow, in uk-italy it lost to amraam, and it china to pl12

I believe it’s more likely that what we call PL-11A is actually the PL-11 in real life, while the true PL-11A is the PL-11AE.
