J-7E shouldn't be at 11.0

IMO it lost it’s ability to completely dominate since flares are so much more effective now but you can still do very well with the rat strats

The contrails and drag changes back in the day didnt helped it either,when playing 7D back then i could climb to 8km without being seen and throw PL-5s at 5km,rn they borderline hit at 3km distance.

??? “For some reason” like it isnt one of the best 11.0s and the entire point of the changes is to decompress? Hello? decompression? you know of it?

I literally couldn’t hit anyone at 3km, an F4 or F20 or even F5 would just do a turn and afterburner on run away and the missile would just be too slow to follow.

I rather launch PL-5 within 1.5km - 1.0km because it is really fast and there are no time for spam flares.

I have the highest k/d ratio with J-7E so far (I play all USA/USSR/FRANCE/Sweden toptier jets), and I always love to grind all China top tier with it, it’s a great plane at 11.0.

Yeah but with any vehicle trying to sneak up to him at 1km range is almost impossible, I’ve done it in dogfights and on some F14s who are too busy spamming AIM54s, but otherwise it is rare to be in this range, and this can’t do head on so it is quite annoying, like no full aspect means you have to get so close to someone or you will just get flared or out turned eventually when you loose too much speed.

PL-5 are like Magic 2s, they dont have IRCCM but fired sub 1km, they usually go through flares and kill.

magic 2 does have irccm…

I know. But they go after first flare when launched sub 1.5 km aswel just like the IRCCMless PL-5s

What i usually do is use my RWR as a radar to know where is the enemy and going low to my left, after that turn to the right and wait to be close to the enemy to launch the PL-5B at phantoms or planes with big engines so it doesnt gets one-flared, as for countermeasures i use 34 Flares - 38 Chaff, also wait for the new BRs because you will face things like Mirage 2K on full uptiers

hell nah, Magic 2 is one of the best IR missiles at short range with that acceleration, in rear aspect is almost imposible to flare

I mainly use my RWR to find F4s especially in summer sales :D. It’s just I currently want to get Q5L so I could grind easier.

People dont realize that the recent MiG-21 nerfs affected the J-7E aswell. it lost a bit of its energy retention that everyone talks about. Also, 11.0 is 8/10 times a uptier to 11.0-12.0 or 10.7-11.7 because people right now are abusing the m2k, f16a, f14a BR matchmaking to seal club. Guess which planes have a better airframe at those uptiers? m2k, f16a, f14a etc.

However, the new battleratings gaijin has proposed for 13.7 should fix all these issues and make it worth to play. so just don’t play it until the new update comes out tbh. (if you already grinded the tree)

Well, I’ll be honest with you, I don’t play with the J7, but I used to play with the MiG-21bis and since yesterday I’ve been playing with the F-5E FCU (Japanese). With the exception of facing F-16 and Mirage-2000 I have no problem fighting other planes.
They have a tactic that works, for me, 80% of the time.
Take off, stay back, let the team go ahead (5 or 6 km) go to the side of the map, climb to the limit, avoid creating contrails, when you are parallel to the allied bases go to the middle of the map and dive into the planes enemies shoot and get back up, try to launch the missile at targets that are isolated or chasing someone, as these probably won’t use countermeasures, if you attack someone who is being chased they will be using flares and you will waste a missile.
Using the Phyton-3 I usually launch at 3km from the target, using the AIM-9P at 2.5km from the target, with the R-60 at 2 or 2.5km from the target. Remember to assess the enemy’s attitude, speed and direction in relation to you. Launch the missile and go up, gain height and repeat the process.
If you enter Dog Fight, give preference to horizontal combat instead of vertical combat (if it has the same flight model as a Mig-21, do this, otherwise disregard), especially against light aircraft, such as the F-5 for example. If you are going to use it in vertical combat, do it for one or two loops and force it to go horizontal. If no one comes to hinder your fight, you will win (against F16 or Mirage-2000 you will probably lose, but do your best).

That is completely not usable for J7E, AIM54s will pick you out of the sky like a pigeon, it explodes 100m from you and will 100% kill you. This is on top of Super 530s, AIM7s, R24/R23s and R27s if you get uptiered, I do the same route on the blue side, on red side it will just be the same side since I find flying in mountains where radar missiles are harder to use make my life easier. I do get how that works, since I did that with F100, but this is when good radar missiles are non existent, J7E can’t enjoy that kind of environment. I do hope new meta will solve it though.

Really? No radar, no all aspect, bad speed retention and 8/10 matches where you will face actual F16s. I suffer a lot from situations where I am trying to dog fight, but because of flares and no full aspect, it takes quite long and it is hard to avoid being locked by 9L R60 and Magic 2s. I have to dodge on average 2-3 missiles just before I could get into a dogfight so I do have to try very hard.
