Hello everyone, before I attempt to submit a bug report I want to see if anyone has more information on the cant angle of the antenna on the J-10C. It is indisputably mounted at a canted angle, not simply suggested by the angled base of the radome itself but also established in photos of the J-10CE with radome removed from Zhuhai airshow. My hand measurements suggest a cant angle of 20 degrees, which would allow a 140 degree FoV array to gimbal to 90 degrees vertically. I would expect the correct implementation of such a canted array to look like -50 to +90 degrees vertically as opposed to the current -70 to +70 vertically. Canted arrays are not exclusive to just the J-10C; a significant number of modern fighter aircraft (ex. F-22, F-35, KF-21, KAAN, J-35, J-15T) have canted arrays, so I think this is an important detail in general for the accurate modelling of modern, sensor-reliant fighters.
Does anyone have more authoritative sourcing on the precise angle of the antenna tilt on the J-10C? Please don’t cite AI output, I’ve gotten ridiculous answers like “5 degrees” which is obviously nonsense.
