the J-10A is noted in game weighs around 9,750 kg, the actual weight of the J-10A variant is 6,940 kg. the J-10C weighs 9,750 kg, not the A variant.
Where are you getting 6,940 kg from? Both of my books agree it is 9,750 kg
Chengdu J-10 - Specifications - Technical Data / Description (flugzeuginfo.net) , this is the first link that shows up when you look up the J-10As empty weight, and it is usually the case that the B/C variant of an aircraft is considerably heavier than the A variants, you see this example in the F-16A vs F-16C, F-15A vs F-15C, and so on. the J-10C is known to have much better avionics, radar ect, so it makes sense that the J-10A would be around 15,000 lbs, unless there were no upgrades made to the airframe or systems on the aircraft at all.
there is no way the J-10A weighs the exact same as the J-10C
what I’m seeing a lot is 9,750 kg but its for the J-10C variant.
You need a primary source or 2 secondary Chinese sources to dispute the weight. As I said, 2 of the books I have list the A variant as 9,750 kg, and the B/C variant as slightly heavier. The link you posted doesn’t even list sources, it is considered a tertiery source at best. The only Chinese book I have that covers the J-10 doesn’t list the empty mass; AVIC doesn’t list the general specs either.
It’s unlikely it’s as light as the Gripen, and I don’t think we’ll find any official info on its flight characteristics unless someone decides to ‘prove their point in an argument’
First off, empty weight of J-10A in War Thunder is 8300kg, not 9750kg.
Second, random websites are not accurate enough sources.
Which books are they?
Dragons Wings by Andreas Ruppercht
