Its time to talk about man in the loop

Such had not crossed my mind until this point, but we have a number of entry level man in the loop weapons which never got the feature that made them unique due to gaijin stating that their range would be too great and that SAMs would not be able to counter them. With the advent of far superior SAMs this patch, this is not really a valid argument against the feature’s addition now.

Heck the Walleye 2 that was added to the game just recently flat out has “Datalink” in the name but no such feature.

I personally say that this feature should be added at least for glide bombs that have it, such as the Walleye 2 and the PGM X000 series, as to both test the waters and allow these bombs to actually be relevant.

Personally I think they just dont want the buccaneer to outshine all the fancy super modern planes with Martels xD

Gonna have to see after the patch hits, from what Mat posted in his video testing the new SAMs against a CAS pilot they might unironically be worse than the pantsir.

Feature would be cool though.

The pantsir remains cracked, it’s performance is still nearly impossible to beat until purpose built mid range SAMs appear, but the SLM does very much so give it a run for it’s money, at least outside of very close range engagements.

Yeah, its a real shame

I would think its the opposite, where the newer SAMs perform better in closer ranges since the newer IR missiles are an actual killbox, its just that its very easy for CAS to operate outside that if its only going to be ~6-8km.

Pantsir has the advantage of a faster missile, being able to use manual lead via user inputs to get around bad tracking or lead (there actual a lot of skill involved with this and makes playing it kinda fun in that aspect), and having a missile that can camp the airspawn if anyone is dumb enough to fly in a straight line for more than 8-10 seconds, its a gimmicky skill check, but there are still pilots who haven’t learned.

I think the multi vehicle aspect will make them more survivable since its harder to pinpoint the radar unit since it doesn’t leave a smoke trail from the origin. But in current GRB maps i’d wager these things are gonna die to tanks more than planes.

Not sure how spaa would be able to counter the spike fired from ground vehicles

As far as I am aware NLOS or later are the only SPIKES that retain MIL, we only have the early makes of the ER and LR which do not have MIL.
