It's broke

War Thunder Screenshot 2025.05.07 - 17.28.21.08
Last night’s update gave me this, I thought today’s update was a hotfix. Nope, still happening.

Using PSVR2 through steam vr.

I tried submitting to the bug reporting forum but it wants stuff that literally isn’t there.

Just checked with other VR games in case it was the steam VR update: Elite Dangerous and No Man’s Sky running fine.

War Thunder runs fine in flat screen, VR still fatally borked.

Try to verify it or even redownload

As user above said, first step is to verify game files.

Second step is to make sure all drivers are updated.

Third step; If you are running the game with any changes (custom skins, sound, hangar etc) then delete them (or just move out of the games folders temporarily).

Fourth step; Try changing from DX12 to DX11 (or other way around). You can even do this temporarily to “reset” the files for them. To do that you change version, restart game, load into test drive, back to hangar, switch back to what you had before, restart game (this solves certain issues for some players but not others having the same issue, it’s a bit of a “might as well try” kind of thing).

If you’re still running into issues you can contact support for better help. You can find support and instructions on how to contact them here: https://support.gaijin.net/hc/en-us/articles/360000262858-How-to-submit-a-support-request

Just had a quick game. Verified, Direct X 12 (Beta). Seemed to run fine.

Just for extra info for you: Running on relatively low settings compared to what NVidia keeps suggesting (because who needs grass/water/tracks etc to be hi def when flying),
Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling is off.
anisotorpy: 8x
anti aliasing: off
No add ons/mods or skins
FPS 120 (60 for each eye? )
My reasoning is for the best performance and it has been mostly solid since building this PC (6 months ago)

The first time I tried DX12 was dissapointing but seems ok atm. If you have any suggestions to improve my settings I’d be happy to implement them (could I double the FPS to get 120 per eye as that is what the PSVR2 can handle? also monitor is 144hz and I’ve always wondered why have the gpu throw out to the monitor when I’m in VR)

Thanks for your help, I’ll get back on later for a full test. o7

OK a few tests later… it seems to be DX11 or whatever it chooses as “auto”. Initially DX12 was poor and jaggy, less so now but frame rate jumps around between 60 and 120 although that happened frequently over ground battles anyway most of the time barely noticable.

A question for my own research: What was in the update that affected DX11?
