There are basically only a few options left for the tech tree: one is 44M TAS which could be classed as a heavy tank, although it has low chances to be added and another one is from postwar Hungary - IS-2 (could be added as initial variant, 1944 or a bit unique initial one but with DShK).
PS would be nice if we could skip repetitive copypaste research in each nation TT or at least get a discount for each next exact same vehicle.
When Italy had no heavy tank, it just has no heavy tank?
Do you know what a subtree is meant for bro?
Nope, it’s the same as if Germany has issues with jet CAS, it gets Swiss subtree with Hornets, best Hunters, Mirage and F-5.
I only brought up the P.43 because Italy doesn’t really have many domestic tanks left that could fit into the mid-WWII BR range. Even though the P.43 was never built, I think Italy could be given the same exception that Japan has with their blueprint/fake tanks — or even Russia because some people argue that some of their tree also includes vehicles that never left the drawing board.
Adding the P.43 (or similar designs) would help fill out Italy’s tech tree between 4.0 and 6.0 BR, which right now feels a little thin compared to the bigger nations. It wouldn’t just be about adding a “what if” tank for fun — it would actually help balance the lineup and give Italian players more variety in that tier.
Since Gaijin has already set the precedent with Japan and the USSR, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to consider Italy for the same treatment. It would be a fair way to round out the tree while staying consistent with how other nations have been handled.
They don’t need a German Panther. They would get a Hungarian Panther since there’s already a Hungarian sub-tree for Italy.
yeah i agree its a lot a better to add the TAS 44M then a panther as italy has enough Copy paste as it is
I guess it depends on what BR it is introduced at. And what type? Is it heavy or Medium.
The gap between the Sherman Vc and M26A1 is fairly wide so a medium at 5.7 would be good.
At same time Italy has no heavies… which again would be good at around 5.7 or 6.0
- 44M Tas (75 mm) 4.7/5.0 medium (or heavy)
- 44M Tas (80 mm) 5.7/6.0 medium (or heavy)
- Hungarian IS-2 6.3/6.7 heavy
You’d need to model just one new tank, and get 3 much needed tanks to fill these gaps.
P43 but they won’t give us that one either.
If there was a P43 in there I would 100% buy it.
You really need to get with modern historical study and realize the old stereotypes of Italy during the war have been debunked by serious historians. Italy went out first because it was targeted first (by Churchill). That and limited industrial capacity which forced compromises to be made.
