Current model is kinda mix, not exactly a Spanish one, not exactly Italian one. Imo it’s better to fix 105/55 and add more variants of Italian M47s.

During a discussion in 2022, in the WT-ITA Research Group discord, he stated that the barrel needed to be the same as a standard L7.
The only 105/55 that was proposed was for a different project, it was to be made from elongated M36 barrels and the project was proposed by the Naples arsenal.

To explain, there was a project by the Naples arsenal to convert M36 guns (not M36 tanks, M36 is also the name of the 90mm used on the original M47) to 105mm, probbaly reboring the barrels, and extend the length. The design is visible in the blueprint I posted yesterday. There were also proposals to rearm the M47 with regular L7/M68 barrels by OTO, and those ones are the ones we have photos of. The one with the gun out still has the original mufflers so it has the regular engine deck and engine itself, and other photos clearly show the M60 style engine deck. The two tanks have different finish on the turret casting so they are likely two different tanks. The M36 converted guns were tested but the Storia Militare article that talks about them does not specify if they were tested in a tank or just by themselves. We have no photos that I know of. The model ingame has apparently been modeled after the Spanish M47A2 at Latrun, with the difference being that the barrel has been extended to 55 calibers length. This is wrong as the OTO model it is supposed to represent had a regular L/52 barrel, and the original Naples arsenal 105/55 proposal shows a regular M47 engine deck

I thought that unpainted part was showing that it’s 105/55, but according to blueprints this exact part should be a bit different, right?
PS why is it unpainted still?
The blueprint are from the arsenal and their plans on how they could make the 105/55.
The photo you’ve posted is from OTOMELARA, we don’t have a blueprint of their cannon.
No idea why that part is still unpainted but it matches the photos we have from when they took the tank outside.
Is it L7, its Oto variant or what?
Current historical consultant says M68, a licensed L7, coupled with the original M36 gun breach.
But at this point it doesn’t really matter much if it’s either an M68 or a L7, the point is that it’s a 105/51.

Seems like that, they probably used one from M60A1 tanks and that unpainted part seems to be hidden by mask on M60s. That’s why it’s unpainted)

Perhaps an Astra M47. I know it would be worse, but it would be better than a C&P and could probably be 7.0 instead of 7.3. IDK. What other options are there?

One that I suggested was a standard M47 but with a 105mm.

What we have is a sidegrade of the M47, the one I proposed is a straight up upgrade.
You don’t compromise your mobility for the firepower.

This BR range needs more options. So probably both. What, exactly is the 105mm one you are talking about?
Imo the OTO M47 should be 7.3 as it trades mobility for firepower.
You could have the Astra at 6.7 as the engine makes it way slower.
And have the prototype M47 with 105mm at 7.7
At 8.0 you have plenty of options: M60, Leone and Leopard1A2

I thought Italy only used the M60A1. Which we already have.
Although Italy borrowed M60A1 RISE/PASSIVE from USMC in Somalia and I would like to see that.

Yeah when I said the M60 I meant the M60A1, the one we have ingame is the M60A1 of the Armored Division Ariete, like other premiums of this kind, you can introduce the normal one in the TT, like it happened with the P.40, the M43, the M26 and so on.
The M60A1(RISE) could be interesting but maybe as a squadron or event vehicle as it was used in small numbers and for a small fraction of time.

I’d be down for that. I just want as much variety in lineups as possible. Vehicles in as many BR’s as possible. I also don’t care about high tier. After 9.7 Ground RB stinks. Which is why I love all these cold war recommendations as they would all be 9.7 or under.
