Italian DB601 and DB605 worked differently with the German original

Just grinded out the Italian C202, C205 and G56 in the Italian tech tree. Then I realized in MEC mode the Italian licensed production engine actually does not break down when engine rpm goes too high. I am not really an expert on aircraft engines, even after spending some time on the net I still found no answer to this question. Does anyone know why this difference exist?

Anti-German bias of RF devs comes to mind.

You find the same effects in the Ki-61s or the Finish PM-1 or the J-21 & B-18B family or the SM 92.

You googled not long enough - the debate of 109s dying due to high engine revs is very old; google for “Einheiterverstellgerät” and you find ancient threads from Il-2 decades ago.
