In this digest we would like to tell you about our continuing work on improvements and fixes in the game. You can find information about all updates that have been released in War Thunder in the website special section.
## Keep an ear open!
War Thunder’s sound palette is constantly being improved and expanded. This time fans of ground vehicles are in luck: it’ll become easier to discern what’s going on by sound!
For example, if an enemy hits you, you’ll be able to know what shell they used, be it APHE, AP, HE, or HEAT, just by sound, even without leaving first person view. Well, after a bit of practice, of course.
When rounds from rapid fire guns hit your vehicle, you’ll hear them with their exact frequency. The same applies to hits of your rapid fire guns landing on enemy armour: hit sounds will correspond to the tempo of your shots.
Finally, shells flying around you have received much brighter sounds to contrast with the background and additionally warn you of danger.
Know the enemy by sight
Last time we talked a lot about the importance of protection analysis, a feature that allows you to learn the vulnerabilities of the vehicles in the game. However War Thunder is constantly growing and there are more and more vehicles in the game - the choice of virtual enemies is truly huge!
That’s why we have added the ability to search for threat vehicles by name to the protection analysis. Spend less time searching and more time simulating hits!
Ghost bridge
A curious situation happened on the “Alaska” map. One player told us in a report that after the destruction of the bridge from bombs he could freely drive on it - as if the bridge never disappeared!
However after investigating what happened we found out that the bombs didn’t matter at all! The bridge didn’t disappear - only its visual model vanished and only if some tank with bulldozer blade (for example T-80U) started digging under it.
Digging will no longer erase objects from reality - the ghost bridge will be a thing of the past.
Exceptional quality
You must have noticed that the game’s launcher offers you a lot of presets to select from - from minimal and standard installation to a selection of high-quality models of aircraft or ground vehicles.
In the Steam version of the game to install high quality models you need to add the corresponding free DLC pack to account first - but even if the player didn’t activated them or if he disabled these DLC, the client itself set “Ultra quality of all models” and started downloading extra gigabytes. We have also fixed this bug.
That’s Not All
You’ll find the full list of improvements in a separate patch note — there are lots of interesting things! The operation of the gearboxes in a number of ground vehicles, the operation of radar for aircraft have been corrected and shells with contact fuzes will now be correctly suspended on water.
Once again, many thanks for all your bug reports that you submitted using our special service.
