Issues with locking radar targets, F/A-18 and maybe others

Hi folks!

Flew an early F/A-18C yesterday in Sim, but gave up after three deaths, because of the following issues:

As much as I tried, I could not lock radar contacts in SC PD and TWS: Contact would be visible, I press the button to lock, radar attempts lock, radar contact becomes invisible, lock fails, and contact re-appears on the radar screen a second or so later.

I think I managed maybe one lock in 20 or so attempts to lock…

IIRC that used to be an issue before for some time.

Does anybody else experience the same currently?

Haven’t noticed any issue with my Swiss Premium Hornet but this happens consistently on F-20’s TWS mode.

noticed the radar acting worse on the CF-188 in ARB today too. Guessing radar is borked again

Interesting.

Gonna try it after the work, wonder Swiss premium is also effected since it has different radar compare to early versions.

I will admit i only use radars in ACM mode for radar missiles as i think radar is stupid in RB but i never used to lose track unless the radar lost LOS even when my target was trying to notch or throwing out chaff. It was wandering off target and not working well at all today for the few matches i did (my tolerance for high tier is very low nowadays so may just have been a string on unlucky events tbh)

Hmm smells like F-2 radar issue to me.

F2’s radar also suffers from same issue despite bein one of the best AESA radar, it casually looses lock even in best conditions and acts like regular pulse radar.

I flew the Swiss Early Premium, so yes. = /

But wait isn’t Swiss premium based on late model except lacking K-Band RWR coverage?

Because everything else matches with late specs.

Frankly, I don’t know, and don’t know variant specifics of Swiss Hornet upgrades very well (more of a Mirage guy, haha!)…

But no matter the variant, I see zero reason why a well visible, good contact should suddenly disappear for a second or two.

That behavior killed me three times yesterday.

Looks like it can be potantiel issue, gonna investigate once I’m at home.

After testing it seems fine at all.

Only one time radar failed to lock onto target in TWS mode, in any other scenario it worked pretty well.

Hmmm, I still see an issue:

…and compared to the Mirage 2000:

As can be seen, the hardlock succeeds immediately with the M2K, but with the Hornet, it often fails, and the radar blanks for about 3 seconds.

Its really interesting, maybe this bug occurs on SIM especially? Cause it works fine in Air Rb.

Wait for target to refresh from the initial detection or turn off your radar for around 8 seconds. Haven’t had this bug in a long time but those 2 things usually fix it

I also did a test flight in RB, and had the same there.
