Israel - Plasan StormRider Counter-Unmaned Aircraft System (C-UAS)

History and design:
The StormRider its a light armored 4x4 vehicle made by Plasan (Israeli company) as an evolution from the Sandcat armored 4x4 vehicle.

During the Defence Exhibition Athens (DEFEA) 2025, Rafael unveiled their proposal for the anti-drone warfare, a Plasan StormRider 4x4 with a SAMSON Mini RWS turret mounted on top. This turret features a M230 Bushmaster Chain Gun; two Spike LR 2 launchers; and, a sight pod with an Automatic Target Tracker (air tracking), Dual-Axis Stabilization, Laser Rangefinder and thermal view.

The cannon its similar as the ones in the AH-64 helicopters, but because its a ground platform, we can assume its the M230LF Bushmaster, which has a slower fire rate (200 rpm) than the ones installed in air platforms. Additionally, the cannon its capable to shoot HEDP (anti-armor with 51 mm of pen), HE, and HE-VT (proxy airburst rounds against drones) rounds.

The armor of the StormRider provides STANAG 4569 Level 3 all-round protection and STANAG Level 2a/2b under-vehicle mine protection.

The StormRider’s C-UAS suite comes with a soft-kill configuration, which its an electronic warfare suite of the SIGINT (Signal Intelligence) type, that can spot air threats and from where they come (know aprox where the operator is). It also has a hard-kill configuration, which its the use of the M230 Bushamster cannon (with the help of the 4 radar sensors around the vehicle’s roof and the 30 mm airburst munition and tracking), the spikes missiles, and a SpearUAV Viper Interceptor drone-to-drone (launched from multiple tubs at the rear of the vehicle).
Additionally, the StormRider can deploy a quadcopter UAS for reconnaissance.

Theres no more information about the StormRider C-UAS development, only the information available at the DEFEA 2025 event. Also it doesn’t have any combat history.
