Looks at the F-117
F-117 wasn’t B-117 before being changed to F-117
UH-60 was changed to AH-60 for a reason
I might be digressing a bit, but I have some information about the Merkava’s armor.
Of course, I know that only the turret has been retrofitted with armor to counter threats like the DM53.
Egypt’s actions make this clear.
The threats the Merkava is designed to counter always include neighboring countries’ tanks.
However, the hull is probably not one of them. According to Israeli official documents, the Merkava’s armor should provide a uniform line of sight (LOS) of 1000 mm across the entire vehicle, including the engine. However, this is somewhat questionable. However, no matter how you look at it, the composite armor sections are insufficient. Realistically, they probably provide around 650 mm of KE protection at best, or more conservatively, 500 mm.
For game implementation,
Ideally, the turret should be rated at 700 KE for the entire front.
While the hull should be around 520 KE.
ye the reason is the “Attack” package
the only thing he means is the base of the heli is UH-60 non Attack heli base
its big and heavy
stop rage baitin you not good at it
NLOS is not needed at all
99.99% of engagements happen within 8KM
fair enough, but its BIG.
much bigger
edit: and still the controls feel heavy and not slick at all comperd to AH 64
I would love to see the AH64D Saraph gettingits spike missiles, or maybe the upgraded AH64D-i with the Elisra self-protection suite which includes DIRCM as well, Elisra did said can be used on helicopters like AW101 helicopter platforms but they did not specify if it’s included their own AH64D-i.
I would rather have it on the 64D and then later have the D-I introduced with NLOS Spikes
The AH64 D-I is in game arldy, you can see in the model it has the fcs sweet and upgraded MAWS. Gaijin just has yet to implement any of the DCIRM or spike missiles.
The D-I only means Israel licensed version, its just a AH64 D block II which is technically speaking more modern than the 1998 block I america has in game so theres that. I will say israel is missing the HRSS system.
the Elisra DIRCM will be really nice considering the current meta, possibly the addition of the 16km Spike ER2s too, to bring it up to parity with the new systems
Here is the elbit ‘mini-music’ DIRCM in what looks exactly like the apache’s side pod as seen on the AH-64E
Im not trying to say israel stole the technology but its looking like they took some notes. XD
CIRCM
From what I can see actually, the Israeli design seems superior as it offers a wider angle for the laser
The CIRCM spins around on gyro so its almost if not 360 deg.
Top right, front aspect
left side is well a side view
and the bottom right is a vertical left side view.
heres a better image
Israel actually had it first, the MUSIC system (and it’s predecessor Flight Guard) has been equipped on EL AL’s (an israeli airline) fleet for a while now, so it’s most likely that whichever defense contractor makes CIRCM took notes from Elbit
Either way, there are a fairly limited number of ways to do DIRCM tech, so they will all end up looking fairly similar, starting the ‘who copied who’ goose chase doesn’t really make sense
