Israel Aerospace Industries F-5E Plus - The prototype of Israel

Chile and Thailand use the same Israeli radar, the Brazilian F-5 uses an Italian Grifo F radar that if I’m not mistaken is a little worse than the Israeli one.

I made a comparative table of the 3 most powerful F-5s in the world from Thailand, Brazil and Chile.

+1. F-5s are great planes overall and Israel shall get hands on one too, at least the prototype one

ok so, i had a question since i read in another forum, aparently the chilean f5Es use smart flares, is that correct or not?

That’s right, since the Chilean RWR automatically commands the use of countermeasures in the event of a threat. This incredible capability was available even in the earliest version of the Chilean RWR used in the Chilean Hawker Hunters.

i mean smart flares in the sense that they burn at a designated temperature to fool irccm systems

what’s max fit with derbies, i assume x4?

4 missiles in total seems to be the max for any AAM on any F-5, with the exception of the F-20

And even then, I’m not sure the actual adapters for the F-20 (at least as advertised) existed in any capacity, aside from mockups. Gaijin just kinda improvised and used the adapter + rails from the A-10As lol.

Yeah, them adding it for the Aim-9s really caught me off guard when the update dropped, totally thought it would be 4 max unless they did the funny and gave it 120s

I kinda figured Gaijin was gonna go with the 4x underwing (it’s mentioned in the sales brochure, F-16/79 manual, Paul Metz’s book [so Northrop archives], etc), I just didn’t know what to expect lol. I was thinking they’d either go with a modified Hornet adapter, or go with something more unique lol.

No idea, I’ve never heard anything about that. Maybe they were referring to high-caliber flares? Besides that, I can’t think of anything else.
