usa mains what can you tell about usa tech tree overall, is it good nation to play or there nations better? (grounds and air battles realistic)
I have u.s air unlocked to korean warish, and also got a decent few german, russian, japanese and british planes.
U.S air at prop tiers generally requires more disciplined and reserved gameplay than its peers. This is not because it is weak - in fact it has some very broken planes - but because of heavy emphasis on speed and using that speed. Getting greedy, getting dragged into a dogdight loses that speed.
So - is u.s air playable? Yes, very much so ay props. Unfortunately as they do require a more thoughtful approach than planes that excel at sustained low speed turns or have amazing vertical retention - american air teams are pretty bad. Most of your teammates will try to turnfight zeros and yaks and you notice that your team died while you are alone at altitude either duelling someone or making bnz passes.
Another issue with u.s air is that, alongside u.s.s.r, it has very famous top tier jets like tomcats and f16s and stuff. It also has very popular tanks. This means at prop tier air you also get a lot of teammates who do not actually care about playing the iconic ww2 mustangs, jugs, hellcats and corsairs and instead only show up to grind out planes for CAS in ground battles or to skip to top tier asap. This is mostly done by strapping a million bombs to their jugs and corsairs and flying them at a few hundred metres off the ground to rush bases and ground targets then get shot out of the sky as they got nowhere to dive but the ground to evade attacks and gain speed.
So!
U.S props: very fun to play, very fast; but your teams will make you suffer.
Solutions i found:
- Play after ~2200 UTC on EU server. The weird childish, slur heavy teamchats disappear and people seem actually civilized and learn teamwork
- Squad up (mustangs in a squad are a nightmare to fight when i encountered them in my yak of bf109)
- Play air sim where your teammates become people who actually care and not just only there for the grind.
Korean war -
the f84b is like the culmination of american air philosophy up to that point. Go incredibly fast, make a mess, get out before anyone can catch you. That thing is so fast you can take stupid risks and live as long as you remember not to start turnfighting people. It is also capable of serious play making: you got an airspawn, incredible speed and… this means you make first contact with the enemy and even if they live you will have 3 planes chasing you at the mininum. This means at least 3 planes not engaging your team. This means your team will have a numerical advantage. This means your team survives. This means you win. Seriously that thing singlehandedly gave me win rates comparable to german and japanese teams by sheer virtue of being able to tank the entire enemy team’s aggro. It also gave me a positive k/d as i can just run away from everything not a mig15.
F2h2 is the only other korean plane i got and i made the stupid idea to fly it with a 3.0 g/stamina crew so i cannot really jusge her given my pilot blacks out every time i do a split s or a serious turn. It however feels way slower than the f84b and it is much harder to run away with it. On the flipside it kills whatever it can hit reliably with its 20mm cannons. You also cannot tank the enemy team with it like in the f84 - you play it more like you would your typical american plane. Fortunately your team stopped pretending to be lawndarts with explosives so they usually survive long enough for you to bnz the enemy team away.
Korean jets are near unaffordable in sim to fly so i only got mininal experience with them there so no comment beyond “dont play the banshee in 8-9 brackets. You will suffer.”
While defyn’s skill is not representative - he does showcase the potentials of planes fairly well - thus i recommend checking out his corsair and mustang videos.
Germany, Russia, and Sweden are the best ground nations currently, with the US being the best in air (at least in terms of top tier ground and air).
Aircraft, top notch.
Ground vehicles, they’re good, but not the greatest.
Together, still a very potent combo.
for U.S air its kind of normal but for ground you will be in pain most of the time. for ground high br you will get 1 shot when you pass rank 5 tanks no matter how you angle or where you hide. you are also very wide so easy to hit and not the fastest either.
for air rb its easy but for some reason long range radar lock air-air missiles you cant do or lock on so use ir only
and for aviation:
air is pretty good and ground is pretty good till you get to Abrams cause they got some issues
