Is tiger h1 worth the grind?

What’s OHK?

It does matter, Panther has only 29g of TNT equivalent. Tiger has 215g on PzGr. and 108g on Pzgr.39, T-34-85 has 164g, M36 has 137g, even a Sherman 76 has 64g. Combined with the fact that a Panther has the same reload as a Tiger, T-34-85 and M36 of 9.62s/9.75s (stock crew for good reference), it makes a huge difference. For comparison M4A3E8 has 7.67s and twice the TNT.

I don’t have any problem one shoting tanks with any of the vehicles I listed, except the Panther. Panther of course one shots tanks pretty easily, but you can’t aim carelessly like with the others, turret and cupola shots will sometimes not one shot.

With a Tiger with PzGr. you can pen anywhere and it’s automatic overpressure.

Again, I mainly play Tiger E, so I don’t have a problem with cupola. Tiger’s turret is significantly stronger than Panther’s turret.

Panther’s side armor, mainly on the turret, but also on the hull, is so thin (45mm on the turret and 40-50mm on the hull, depending on the variant), that it can be penned basically from the front by a T-34-85, M4A3E8 or M36. I know because I do this all the time.

This is the only choice Germany gets around 6.0. You have a choice between Tigers, Jagdpanzer 4/70 (no turret, no weakspot), Panthers or Panzer 4s, I would choose them for brawling in that order. The rest are sniping-only TDs. Jagdpanther is good, but it’s 6.3.

1 shoot kill.

And one shoot from panther can cripple the enemy tank in such a way that he won’t be able to do anything.

Panther has much more stable gun than Tiger H1, meaning it is easier to be the first to shoot.

You can’t pen anywhere and it doesn’t overpressure all the time.

The topic is about Tiger H1, not Tiger E.

The Panther’s gun is like the Soviet 57mm gun. It has a lot of pen, but the post pen damage is very lacking, and it usually takes 2 shots to kill most things that other guns can do in 1 hit.

Meh. Tiger I is a glorified Panzer 4 relative to its BR. You can’t angle against everyone at once and the turret traverse is too slow. Them castrated maps as of late don’t even allow for sniping, the one thing this tank is good at. When I play USA and meet a Tiger, the only thing comes to mind - EZ kill.

Panthers and especially Jagdtpanzers is where its at. Just zoom around in the Jpz 4-5 / Jagdpanther combo and print nukes.

The biggest weakness of the Tiger is the BR, which puts it at a BR bracket without fair opponents. Ofc there are still alot historical WW2 tanks around that BR. But lets face it. Community plays what works and is op. So in most games you play against fast moving cars, heat-fs slingers, modern light tanks and other ambush-like units. Ratels, Pt’s, M-51, 155mm cold war howitzers etc etc etc. When do you really face Shermans, IS or T-34 tanks in a Tiger? Its pretty much rare.

Most games are uptiered to 6.+ and maps are swarmed with Ratels and stuff. Few play historical opponents, where angling etc might work. Instead they lol around in 155mm howitzers, 300, 400, 500, 600mm pen heat-fs / ATGM vehicles. Super fast. Super agile. Super pen. No angling helps. Often they move faster than you turret might track them. Most of your ammo types won’t ever trigger . Almost all of these units are sponges for Panzergranate shells. You shot - Panzergranate does almost nothing. They shot, heat fs or 155mm HE lolkills you or at least cripples you.

Sigh. Wtb gamemodes without light tanks and yolocars. And a special mode without M-51 and this 450mm pen from that cold war gun. This M-51 is truly spammed. Its just broken. Op trajectory. Op pen. Since 2 patches ago also extreme lethal damage. What do you do when they snipe 450mm pen Heat FS? It kills you at any range at any angle. Even the Pt-76b heat is now super lethal.

WT is unplayable at certain BR brackets. Super lethal tincan racers or super cold war guns vs. Tigers and the likes. Even ATGMs are possible. It just doesn’t work.

yeah, it’s pretty good.

Nah, it’s not that bad, but it’s a somewhat good comparison. You will occasionally have to do a follow up shot, but you mostly one shot enemies with it. It’s simply not as certain as a Tiger’s gun for example.

*400mm, still ridiculous though

The main thing is that Pt-76 has a stabilizer and a very fast reload now, 6.5s stock and 5s with maxed crew. You can pen and cripple all opponents easily, and do a follow up shot very quickly.

Those Pzgr rounds with 200g of filler are mini nukes.
