Is there support for WinWing HOTAS?

I have the WINCTRL Orion2 CarrierAce (F-18) joystick and NavyAce Throttle combo. I’ve not had an issue with binding to the throttle but I can’t get any button on the joystick to work at all. Pitch and roll work just fine. Am I doing something wrong?

With controls binding, the problem is almost never [lack of support].

I’m not an expert but have encountered binding problems before and solved them many times. I will try to assist.

You didn’t state your box so I’ll assume Windows PC.

Suggestions to try:

-Plug your stick into a different USB socket.

-Borrow a powered USB hub and plug your HOTAS into that because sometimes, multiple peripherals can create too much demand on the PC’s USB power and a powered USB hub is meant to compensate. Also in this category is your PC “power plan” which can sometimes be set too conservative regarding USB voltage and sleep. I use a performance setting rather than Microsoft’s energy conservation. Search Youtube for this issue as it’s above my scope to explain.

-One quirk of War Thunder binding is that some users report that unplugging a joystick or throttle then plugging it back in may force one to rebuild their controls scheme.

-While you set your key bindings, spawn your plane in test flight so, once a bind is done, you can confirm it works by test and observation.

-Don’t use War Thunder’s pre-determined joystick profiles. Instead, set each button individually, and save individually. That said, try the pre-determined joystick profile then adjust key bindings and no, I’m not kidding. Sometimes for no reason, things work that way.

If none of that works, third party control binding software may help. Many people recommend free software Joystick Gremlin.

Keep a determined attitude as binding problems are almost always fixable by “just clicking stuff and trying and trying”!
