Is there no way to rewind server replays?

Trying to get more information by using server replays instead of client, and do I really have to just fast forward stop and then play from the beginning if I screw that up or want to watch something that came before? its a major headache.

There is, there’s a toggle in the spectator options under battle options to save rewindable replays (same tab where you set it to autosave replays and whether to save cockpits).

It’s janky.

I mean the replays from here: Gaijin Entertainment - Single Sign On

I want to be able to see others players perspectives, and other things only server replays have like missiles flying in GRB etc.

Ah, then can’t help. Sorry :v.

Yes, it is all that unfortunately… :/
(even more so when the replay just stops/crashes out)

You get a little used to it and then can start slowing things down when you get near the event that you want to see in more angles/from the enemy.

But it’s really painful for things that happen near the end of a (long) match.

Replay is jerky at best…buggy sometimes…has to be handled with “care”.

You cannot rewind it because it is not a video, but the game engine (re)playing the same inputs he received from ALL players on the original match. So it has to be played FORWARD for the engine to know what to do next…it can’t “undo”…

SO yes…if you crash something or want to go back to some previous event you need to restart the replay…and FF to where you want to be…

Thanks, do they have plans or said anything about making the engine capable of playing those commands backwards to let “rewind” the replay?

A lot of work seems to be put into the replay system, it has a lot of really nice features, being able to rewind seems like something that it should have.

No sorry…all communication by devs on this was that the system does NOT allow for rewind…and it will “never” do…(the explanation above was mentioned as the reason)
(never is a tough word…but this was asked for YEARS ago…so i am assuming the technical/cost ratio is not good)

You CAN save a replay as video…but then you get only the perspective you used to make the video…cannot change player or camera anymore…

BTW…this also means that on every update all replays stop working as the game engine is different and results would also be different…in case you didn’t knew…

EDIT:
When i watch a replay i mark (in my head) the timestamp of the moment i want…if i need to “rewind” i just FF fast back to that timestamp
