I believe you…but this happens also with 88mm guns (as an example) which are also not supposed to only damage an optical module or go trough trucks without making damage…
I dont really know if the stats are correct or not…but

  1. Lots of shots on lots of different guns seem to do much less that it would seem “logical”
  2. It goes both ways
  3. When i fire the gun on FV4005 i am not particularly afraid of the results…(not more than when firing APHE guns)
  4. I do dislike the reload and manoeuvrability…but guess it fits the BR (give or take 0.3)
