Because noob russia and germany mains complained that you need to aim for (large) weakspots and can’t just shoot wherever you want and kill it instantly, pro players rushed to buy it before it got moved up.
I can assure you, random noobs were not the primary buyer. This obscure vehicle was primarily bought by people who have already been in the community for a while, and have been watching the forums.
Same happened with the XM246. It’s objectively one of the worst Gepards, being very slow in a speed meta, having a massive turret, and having tons of sensitive stuff in that turret, but despite this, noob russia and germany mains complained it was OP and that led to lots of high skill players rushing to research it.
To be fair, I have hit this thing in the lower side with a MILAN and it has done nothing. I have hit it with the Leos APDS in the lfp and it has just nonpenned. Even something like the T-55As APFSDS struggles against it. I’m not saying its terribly horribly impossible to kill; it’s not. It is possible to kill.
But the problem is the spots that are supposed to be consistent aren’t. You can hit exactly where you are supposed to, and still do nothing. And, whereas it may take you 6 seconds to reload (and I am being generous here), it only takes the T58 2, giving it a massive advantage if it misses its first shot too.
Stabilized or not, its certainly a menace. To every tree and player, irregardless of the hands it is in. So I see no issue moving it (and the BMP-T, and the TURM-III) up.
edit: no one here is necessarily wrong. And. It is rare that I agree with @MotorolaCRO . The fact that I am agreeing here on this issue may showcase the kind of problem the T58 is.
If I am being honest, I can’t think of a single 10.0 Tank in game it can’t deal with. The Leopard 2K is going to really be the most difficult enemy it faces, and its a glass cannon so hitting it anywhere pretty much knocks it out. I’ve seen T58s in top tier get rid of T-90Ms, Leo 2A7s, etc. 10.0 is not more of a struggle or ‘unfair’.
Plus, removing it doesn’t get rid of the problem. It still sits at 8.7. It still is a dominating machine. So, overall, the move to 9.0 right now is the right call.
Lol you were right about the toptier problem, until last week, Ive been getting first place with the t58 in 12.7, however I think the shells got nerfed because they even failed to kill leopards frontally. Still though I don’t think it should go to 9.0 because of that reason.
Well, it’s currently unfair for 7.7s to face T58 as seen by it’s ridiculous stats.
Even against 10.0s it’ll still have great gun handling, ridiculous reload speed and a nuke shell that makes aware T58 basically unpeekable in certain situations.
this may be true but that doesn’t necessarily mean its armor is properly modeled lol (it’s an issue with most things I know, but I just want to point it out)
No not really. T58 will certainly hold some advantages, but It’s pretty easy to destroy if you just don’t charge it headon. M82 can frontpen it, and will almost always take out the breach.

If we really want to get into specifics, Statshark has an option to show only recent sessions. You ignored it cause it doesn’t support your narrative ofc, but it’s still there whether you like it or not.
