I started researching the SKR-7 a while ago before it got nerfed, and have only 46k RP left to go, but apparently it got nerfed so the ready rack is smaller and slower to reload and may or may not be less survivable. Is it still good despite the nerfs?
The ships armed with the AK-726 mounts are… well, they’re good if you keep yourself out of open oceans & or angle enough to avoid easy shots to the magazines. (This is for currently the Project 159 (SKR-1) & Project 35 (SKR-7)).
Unfortunately they’re everywhere so they’re easy to deal with for those that know what they’re doing.
Note, if you come under attack from a missile, make sure to turn into it or away from it, as if you present even an any part of the hull with the magazines just behind it, you go boom.
The DPS of those cannons can still obliterate ships of medium destroyer sizes & smaller with ease but the reload rates for the ready racks are just terrible & for how much they hold, the reloads are just piss poor (3.8s, per turret, this is an eternity when under fire), they devs as always go overboard on nerfing equipment.
But due to again the ready racks, it maybe wise to fire in bursts & wait for reloads & fire again another burst & repeat reload, only fully mag dumping if critical to survival.
You get a radar, so if any aircraft comes at you, you can blap them from the skies even with default HE shells, at least HE-VT shells will be eventually better.
Your torpedoes are lightweight ASW torpedoes that’ll need all to sink a frigate type vessel upwards, but they’ll oneshot vessel under 200 tonnes.
Eventually you’ll unlock the RBU-6000 rocket assisted depth charges, jokingly they become your main weapon by some of the playerbase, they hit hard, they can sink many vessels in just a few charges hitting or the whole salvo.
Niche, your sonar bulge can & get you caught in shallow areas.
Verdict: Average, the other squidron SKR imo is much better due to not being in a nerfed state & being 4.0 instead. The SKR-7 is still servicable but is subjected to many negatives to be super effective. It’s at least a good backup ship in a lineup & is decently fast as frigates go.
