This is DM53. Abrams turret front armor IMO is also slightly underpowered as it can be penetrated too often
This might explain it
The Click-Bait is a heavy common variant of the m1a1, it is not base
Click-Bait is an M1A1 HC and has DU Turret inserts. The M1A1 does not have additional DU inserts.
APS can defend against APFSDS? What magic does the Click-bait have?
Oh true. But when I look at the armor the values are the same
This is why the HC is the best Abrams in the game not the SEPV2.
This doesn’t show any DU. It has supposedly the same armor value. The M1A1 turret can be penetrated too easily
I would guess that while it’s modeled, gaijin has not put it into protection analysis
Soft kill APS?
What does that do?
How does it “kill” ordnance coming towards the tank?
But then that brings up the question, why does only the HC get DU turret inserts and the SEP variants don’t? I’m not sure if they had them in real life but they atleast need something to be as good as the leopard/T-series tanks
Btw; I just screenshotted the the warthunder wiki page on the clickbait.
Also i highly suspect that every Abrams in the game doesn’t get DU at all, infact they’re based on export models which they’re clear of DU.
The HC and all M1A2 variants have Turret DU modeled in-game on their protection.
That’s sad. Atleast give them a modification for it or something. Abrams is kind of like a challenger now, with the largest turret ring and LFP, no spall liners to boot and no M829A3
This is not true…
It is electro optical, similar to the T-90
Do they? Never knew, my bad.
shtora
Look at the cheeks of the M1A1 versus the M1A1 HC or any M1A2 variant with an APFSDS like DM53 fired at them.
This is an M1A1’s turret cheek.
This is an M1A1 HC’s turret cheek.
This is an M1A2 SEP’s turret cheek.
DU, while it might not be visually modeled, is represented within the protection analysis of the Abrams. All M1A1 HC and M1A2 models receive this armor package.
