I’m considering getting the F-14A IRIAF. But is worth it?
As it is now? Yes.
Fakours are crazy fast compared to normal phoenixes, and the secondary armaments are alright. Everything else should be the same compared to regular F-14A, at the same BR, so it’s a sidegrade.
Yes, as the Fakour-90 is the best long range AAM in the game currently and while the R-27R1 doesn’t have the range of a 7F it does have the maneuverability and seeker edge.
Personally I believe the F-14A IRAF is currently a direct upgrade to the USN F-14A, as while the airframe is the same, the IRAF Tomcat gets superior missiles.
Sedjils are garbage and will never track. Fakours are extremely fast and have the best range of any AAM in the game rn. They are however very easy to notch and quite visible. The RWR is extremely bad, and the countermeasure count is also low. If you just want to BVR then yes it might be fun. Assuming perhaps they upgrade the Fakour’s guidance, fin AoA and G overload.
Doesn’t matter. New tomcot. MUST HAVE ALL
Yes Gale, it’s absolutely worth it.
In summary,
Downsides:
•Has Aim-9Js instead of Aim-9Gs (which is a downgrade)
•Has 60 countermeasures, and hot as hell engines, so don’t let anyone get rear aspect shots on you…
•Has the Aim-7E-2 instead of the Aim-7F/M (hopefully they’ll add the Aim-7E-4 to it)
•Has the Sedjil SARH missile with amazing range but really low G pull.
•Has an old and pretty crappy RWR…
Upsides:
•I mean, technically since it gets the Aim-9Ps instead of the Aim-9Js it has radar slaving for those… so yay I guess?
•Has 2 Aim-54A missiles stock
•Has the R-27R1 Russian Radar missile (for now lol)
•Has the Fakour 90 (Aim-54+) With bonkers acceleration and speed, making it viable at close ranges and has no trouble reaching its targets.
•Has an excellent radar and TWS mode as I’ve been hearing.
•Its a bloody Tomcat, great dog fighter, great gun, wonderful speed, swing wing shenanigans, and an absolute menace!
