Is modern ships even possible in this game?

AShM should not be added right now. Just want to remind that these things has already be modeled.

I wouldn’t mind at all naval modern warfare, I think it would actually be fun.
But rn, the battles are already a bit broken because there’s already some modern warship that fight against mostly ww2 ships.

Some of these modern warship are already overpowered broken against certain ww2 ships of the same tier, or even against higher tier. Like ships that fire a salvo of shells every 1-2 seconds with, and with relatively big caliber.

I have absolutely no fun when they attack me. They can literally wipe out any destroyer’s whole crew withing 15 seconds. You can’t even counterattack, they already have disabled your legit ww2 guns that fire once every 9 seconds, literally the best move you can do at this point is pressing “J” and wait.
That said situation already happens relatively often in my gameplays.

After the match, I investigate and see that those ships was pretty much always commissioned during or after the 1960’s. And seriously I really don’t wanna see them in a battle with ships from 1930 ~ 1945, especially not in a BR of 4.7 or lower. And yet I encounter them often enough to think that the game is broken.

I don’t mind actual ww2 guns like a ships with full of 40mm bofors guns that can actually kill a destroyer very quickly, since their effective range is smaller anyway.

Or like that time I was in a BR of 3.7 with reserve ships, I deployed an early ww2 heavy bomber. Literally 5 seconds later I got shot down by an homing anti-aircraft missile.
I have plenty other examples like these.

Like seriously what’s the point of having that kind of weaponry in this tier?
There’s a difference between advantaged and overpowered.

So I say yes to modern warships and adding anti-ships missiles and modern jet fighter and whatever modern, but please, I beg Gaijin to not mix them with ww2 ships like it’s already partially the case.

It’s gonna be a shit show if that ever becomes the case or last with how damage mechanics are currently implemented in the game. I don’t even think they will add iconic ww2 battleships because balancing them will be an insane task to do.

WT Mobile already has missile ships and similar, and continues to add more. It’s only a matter of time before we see them (and the subs and WWII BBs also there) in the main game.

If they make era based BR like it is on tanks and airplanes and not firepower then yes.

tanks, ships and aircraft BRs are all based on relative performence of those vehicles to each other…
There are no era based BRs in war thunder

OMG I know… but in most tanks and aircrafts era correlates with BR. In ships its just based on firepower because Gaijin didnt modelled missiles, modern systems etc.

Not at all, just the differences are usually smaller and not that noticeable when compared to ww1 dreadnought fighting cold war cruisers. Sk60 after all should be at mig23 br and alpha jet higher than f14

Only few ships lack their full equipment, mostly coastals. Even with modern aiming systems modern frigates we have could not scratch a ww1 battleship so relative balancing is very much appropriate

Still better than Gaijin removing missiles from these and then putting them on 7.0. Thats what happened with PG02

Both mig and f14 would not be 7.0 material and pg02 despite being slightly undertiered (should be 3.7) is no way near comparable to f14 on 7.0.

Also type 90 missile is anti ship with 260kg of explosive, pg02 would be far above anything on coastal top tier. With limited options it makes sense to implement ships without some armament to make more complete and diverse trees. When trees will progress we will see missile variant likely as well.
