Hey everyone! The discounts are coming soon, and I’ve decided to grind German aviation. I already have the Hunter F.58, but I can’t afford any top-tier premium jets, so I’m thinking about getting a premium account and a talisman for it instead.
I’m not a very experienced player, so I’d really appreciate some advice from people who know the game better — is the talisman on the Hunter F.58 actually worth it?
its the best hunter however you will face the cancer of F5 premium spam.
the swiss premium hornet is the best 12.7 hornet because of the better engines so that may be better for grind thunder
Swiss hornet is also heavier by some 500kg so overall the engine perfomance is not that different. The single biggest difference are the extra CMs.
Are you aware that talisman doesnt fix the rank efficiency issues?
This is a VERY important thing to note. If you are trying to grind anything under 1 Rank below the Hunter F.58 you will incur a MASSIVE RP penalty/reduction. Only premium vehicles can research at maximum efficiency down to Rank 1.
The second huge difference for Premium Vehicles are their 2.0x bonus to Silver Lion gains. ONLY Premium Vehicles have this 2.0x to SL gains, adding a talisman does NOT add this 2.0x to SL gains. Not only does the 2.0x apply to the vehicle itself, but Premium Vehicles DOUBLE the SL boost from Premium Time AND Silver Lion boosters that you have active. Thus, the effect on Silver Lion gains can be higher/much higher than “just” 2.0x. I personally ONLY use Premium Vehicles when using Silver Lion boosters. 20% SL boosters become 40%, 50% SL boosters become 100%, 500% SL boosters become 1,000%, etc.

So, the Hunter F.58 can only research at maximum efficiency down to Rank V. Look at the "Max vehicle research efficiency stat. Maximum/full efficiency are Ranks V-VII for the Hunter F.58. If you are trying to research anything Rank IV or lower with the Hunter F.58, you will be penalized 70% of your research points, and for anything Rank III or lower you will be penalized 90% or more of your research points:
As you can see on Premium Vehicles however, their "Max vehicle research efficiency goes all the way down to Rank I. Also note the yellow “2.0” in the Silver Lion reward line. That 2.0 multiplies EVERYTHING after it inside of the ( )'s. Doubling SL gains from Premium Time and/or SL Boosters (I have premium time, and a 20% SL booster active in the screenshot.)
Final note, if you are unable to purchase a mid to high tier premium vehicle right now, you are much better off just purchasing Premium Time and using the normal Tech Tree vehicles rather than spending Golden Eagles on a Talisman for the Hunter F.58. IF you are still grinding out any vehicles rank IV or lower. It would ONLY be helpful to purchase a Talisman on the Hunter F.58 if you have already researched your ̶U̶K̶ ̶p̶l̶a̶n̶e̶s German planes up to Rank V.

I personally prefer to purchase Premium Time on the web store so that I don’t have to first purchase Golden Eagles in game. It is still good deal for the 365 days of Premium Time in game with Golden Eagles, but the 180 days goes on sale 50% on the web store twice a year, so you can keep it rolling year round that way if you prefer. (365 days in game is slightly cheaper than the 180 days “per day”, but not by very much.)
Just note that the cheapest/most efficient use of your money is either the 180 days from the web store, or 365 days in game for Golden Eagles. The lower amounts of Premium Time cost a bit more per day, even when on sale for 50% off. (If you are very curious, I can post the exact math/breakdown, I have made a few text files with the full breakdown of GE costs/Premium Time costs.)
Honestly, €35 for an in-game purchase feels like a lot to me, so getting a premium account and a talisman seems like a better and cheaper option.

I just looked at your service record, shows you only have played Rank III German planes (other than the Hunter). Have you unlocked and/or purchased any of the Rank IV (4) German planes yet?
I’ve just unlocked them, but I haven’t bought them yet.
Ah OK great, the SL cost of purchasing goes on 50% discount too during the upcoming sale, juuuuust in case you didn’t know yet 🙂 Good to wait, saves a TON of SL’s.
So yeah, if you can get your reasearch up to Rank V for your German Planes, a talisman on the Hunter F.58 will help the grind. Especially coupled with Premium Time. And “even though” you will not have the 2.0x SL boost on the Hunter F.58, you WILL get LOTS of extra SL’s from the Premium Time 👍

(So, I am NOT trying to convince you to do/purchase anything you do not want to) but I did just want to point out the other stuff that comes with a Premium PACK from the web store:
For instance the F/A-18C Hornet for Germany comes with 30 days of premium time, and 3,000 Golden Eagles. These “extras” stay the same even when/if it goes on sale for 50% off. I personally really like premium store packs on 50% off sale because the amount of GE’s/Prem Time stays the same. Just in case that factors into your math 👍
There are also 3 other German planes on the web store that are lower BR, but still the perfect Rank to grind out the entire tech tree (they are only 1 rank under VIII, so can grind literally everything in Germany at max efficiency.)
I have the Tornado IDS WTD61 and personally love it, but I enjoy bombing, especially in Arcade with Strike aircraft (they get the super fast in air bomb reload, same fast reload as a bomber.) The Su-22M4 WTD61 is also a strike aircraft, and both the Su and the Tornado have ballistic computers for cannons, bombs, and/or rockets (Tornado does not have any rockets). Ballistic computers do not matter that much in Arcade, however in Realistic battles, you will have the bombing/aiming indicators in 3rd person. Very useful.
(The Mig-21 “Lazur-M” has cannon and rocket ballistic computers but NOT a bomb computer, fwiw)
I am not sure how good the Mig-21 or the Su-22M4 are, would need to ask someone else for advice if you wanted any further info for them.

its better in stricto sensu, but not better enough to warrant a BR difference with current BR spread. The difference in TTW is marginal. Moreso, just 0.3 above you got planes like Su-27s etc. which all have access to IRCCM missiles so you cant just shove it there without further ado.
Theres no practical difference to TT Bis SAU apart from different CM setup. Now that it no longer faces F-16s, its great. Just imagine shanking someone in prison showers, thats pretty much the gameplay loop.
sure sure, buy whatever you want. I was just asking whenever you know that squadron hunter wont be able to research vehicles below certain rank effectively, as @SilentTracker described in detail.
