Is it time for Object 148 (T-14 Amata)?

With recent additions such as the Abrams Trophy and SEP V3 and the Leopard 2A7s, They Soviet top tier tanks are really starting to struggle.

The T-90Ms are just not having a good time right now. 3MB60 is struggling against the Abrams since the armor buff, same with the leopards. The 7 seconds reload is bad as is the 4km reverse speed. Even the T-80BVM is having it rough.

Object 148 is the prototype of the T-14 Armata. Adding this tank would fix a lot of the problems that the current Russian tanks suffer from. Such as fire power and reverse speed. The T-14 would also get considerably armor.

The T-14 Armata also came out about the same time as the Abrams SEP V3 and Leopard 2A7 (all around 2015), so there is no arguments for dates being added ect.

It will be time when it’s time for it

Jokes aside; In my opinion no, not close and Gaijin will probably rely on active protection system to feed ground top tier for the next decade as we’re seeing in the few recent updates.

  1. People won’t like it;

  2. Armor still classified, it would end up in the Abrams situation regarding armor being only modelled based on public data.

Crazy take, if that’s what you’re on about - KF51, AbramsX would come to the game faster than any of trashcans you mentioned because those two are at least real - 100% and not just some sheds on tracks for a parade.

The frontal armour on the amarta will be very good but again probably same issue weak lfp and the game physically couldn’t handle tanks like t14 or kf51 for example. It can barely deal with modern mbts nvm tanks made basically today (t14 isn’t even in service I don’t consider it from 2014 lmao

If they were to add it, they’d have to pull a World of Tanks and make up 95% of its stats (engine power, reload, armor, etc.) because it’s still classified and/or unavailable one way or another

Meh not quite true it’s the same as basically all modern mbts the armour is the main unknown part the engine power is known the speed is known the reload iirc is known the ammo it can carry is kinda known (we don’t know if Russia has actually produced some of it)

“its the same as all modern mbts” as all modern MBTs have different engines, reloads, and armor

yeah okay

You completely missed what I said lmao. THE ARMOUR is the unknown part and gajin have made it pretty clear they don’t care much look at the 2a7s

Ok? Obviously, when you make a vehicle and put the most critical asset, the crew, in the hull usually the hull needs the main armor. War Thunder can handle, it’s just information that is scarce; you have War Thunder Mobile with far more advanced naval assets, saying that War Thunder can’t handle submarines is a damn stretch, same goes for modern main battle tanks aside from remodernised assets from 40 years ago.

No it can’t lmao look at the current maps we have a top tier. Look at armour levels of tanks. Look at the ammo we have. Look at the ranges combat happens. The game physically cant deal with more modern mbts and that’s not even mentioning the issues with CAS and modern anti airs.
The game is still based on WW2 and isn’t truely fitted to modern tanks as is nvm more modern ones

If Gaijin introduces the T-14 Armata, it would have very good hull armor but very poor turret armor, though it would compensate for this with its wunderwaffle anti apfsds active protection system.

The hull
very good hull armor

The turret with no armor installed

Gaijin needs to add the T14 armata alongside the abrams x and the kf51 next update and poland tech tree as a surprise

I Don’t mind its addition if it is added along with Tech demonstrator of other nations like KF-51 or AbramX etc

If you play this card, you lads might end up clapped hard in Air.

Because the Su-30SM was introduced in 2012, while the F-35 was introduced in 2015.

We need to balance those vehicles via specification, not by introduction date.

There are examples of IA-58(Added on the same update as Trophy Abrams) or Wyvern, which stuck at ww2 BR radius, or Yak-130 staying low BR compared to its introduction date.

Do you want Yak-130 facing Eurofighter and such?

I personally don’t think that the T14 Armata would be a big problem if it were to be implemented into the current meta. Due to its supposedly relatively weak turret armor, a lot of guess work and RNG is removed, which could lead to it performing worse than other russian options in close to mid range engagements. More or less the same weakspots and the carousel kill-shot remain. Only really big contentious issue with the tank is probably the hard kill APS. If it is as effective as the one on the Chally 2 Black Night, with it only being able to engage slower APFSDS at long range, it is more of a gimmick. But if it is better it is definitely worth reevaluating if it is truly needed atp.

You say that as if gaijin wont implement it with best possible specs and most favorite guesstimations

Give me my Kh-38s on my Yak-130.

One can still hope, even if we have been proven correct almost every time.

Concerning the Afganit APS, it has a stated max interception speed of up to 1700 m/s. Aka pretty much all currently in-game round expect for the DTC-120, OFL 120, Type 10, M322 and… the CL3145. Italy, Japan and France supremacy incoming for NATO? (obv also the L55 Leos)
