Is it just me or SU-25(Tech Tree variant) is extremely hard to effectively CAS in GRB

You have laser guided munition but you need to use well within SPAA range of 10.3 because there is no zoom(missiles already exist). you have too many countermeasures but still, SPAA has much better missiles than fighter aircraft.

With A10A or German F4 variants, you can fire and forget AGM65s from a certainly longer distances. Why is Soviet CAS is shafted at 10.0? Am I playing it wrong?

Why would you use laser guided missiles? For me is worthless, specially with things like Gepard 1, Gepard 1A2 and M247 around, your best bet is always the unguided S-25O rockets, you got 8 of them, 58 kg of explosives.

The “fire-and-forget” is not really “fire-and-forget”, TV guided ammunitions, specially at lower battle rating doesn’t have IOG, which means, if it lost the visual contact from the target is just a wasted ammunition, getting behind a building is the best way to go to avoid TV guided ammunitions.

  • I only carry 2 S-25O rockets .8 S-25O seems to be wasteful especially with constant SPAA presence, I can’t get close enough to guarantee enemy tanks won’t move during its flight
  • How is laser guided any different than AGMs when it comes to buildings? A building stops both. Fire and forget has never meant that munition will find its target no matter what. Fire and forget means you don’t need to constantly guide it until the target. Plus, I know not to fire at enemy that are not in the open field for sometime.

Yes, if you are trying to use the laser weapons and using the ‘sniper view’ and flying a straight line, absolutely. There is a viable and better way to do it though, you have to use 3rd person view, sight stabilization and de-stabilize. Just lock it on the tank that’s the size of a dot and launch, the KH-29L’s will kill with a decent range as well.

To be honest though, it’s better to just use unguided and wait for the SU-25T then use its Schkval sight system to do ranged CAS.

But still, that missile won’t track target. it will just hit last marked zone if you turn away.

Yeah, because it isn’t self guiding. Just watch a few YouTube videos on how to use them and you will pick up how to play them pretty easily.

Bruh, I know. This is why I praised A10 AGMs over constant laser guided missiles without zoom in.Laser missiles with pilot eyesight is basically bullpups :). I know how to shoot enemy with them, the thing is there is a large disparity on the same-ish BR CAS. IIRC, SU-25 is a direct counterpart of A10 as doctrine with A10 having better gun, bomb/missile(AA and Air to Ground) options. That’s all.

Su-25 also faster than A-10, so the chances of doing ground attack and getting away is higher

I don’t see it that way. A10A’s main advantage is 6 long range AGMs that let you lob them from 6km+, never manually target enemy if it moves and gtfo. With its huge number of countermeasures, you can auto use it every 1 second.

SU-25 doesn’t have zoom, which forces you to get closer to your target much more than A10 and you will also have to manually target against moving targets either with rockets or missiles.

I am just baffled that there are people claiming a 10.0 Soviet CAS is better than 10.3 USA CAS. Even against enemy planes, A10 is much scarier thanks to its low speed maneurability. I am trying to understand why there is such a difference in capability.

I watched all SU-25 Ground RB videos, none of them uploaded a game with 10.0+ SPAA too. Guess why :/.

Yeah I agree that the SU25 is a worse CAS aircraft when comparing it to the A-10, A-7D but I wouldn’t really say that it’s extremely difficult to play.

I’m not a big fan of the dumb rockets as I feel like their pretty inconsistent when it comes to aiming but that’s just my opinion, I’ve seen many good players use them to great affect.

I really enjoy using the laser guided agms as they are much more consistent when it comes to getting kills. The only issue is that you need to be a couple of inches away from your monitor when aiming >5km. I have a button on my mouse which reduces the sensitivity which is really great since zoom is nonexistent.

I would still use it in my russia 10.3/10.3 lineup as it’s the only decent cas option that they have at that BR

I agree with everything you said. I will use sensitivity trick as I have similar mouse. But I feel like I need 55 inches screen just to have long range kills fform SU-25 :). The thing about dumb rockets is, you need to be close again and enemy should not move. from close range, ofc it is great but enemy AA won’t let me.
