A dude just used an R27ET locked and launched at me from 7 km in a head-on attack, but on the stats card, it says 4.5 km locking range in all aspects. I tried it in custom battle; I couldn’t get it to lock in a head-on attack from 7 km. Is he cheating or what?
100% not cheating. Maybe you dropped flares. Or maybe you were using afterburners.
I’m not the best person to answer but there are some planes that has IRST on the radar as search method and some infra-red missiles can have their lock guided to a locked target outside its standard lock radius. It’s not cheating, and stat cards don’t exactly shows the real information, the perfect scenario at most for a guaranteed target destroyed.
AFAIK that would require datalink with the current game engine, sorta what SLM or 9X has.

What plane are you using aswell?? Gaijin mess up the heat seeking very bad they don’t actually use heat… the locking will depends on how high the thrust of your engine is. And somehow the Harrier have a hotter engine then the F-5e.
