Are we overlooking Gaijin’s side of things? They have employees to pay and high operating costs to cover, after all.
Exactly my point. Sweden should get the Strv 123 instead of another Leopard 2A8. I have nothing against Norwegian vehicles, but I’d rather see each nation keep its own identity. Otherwise, what’s the point of having separate tech trees?
May problem is that we will end up fighting the same vehicles and not know who is behind corner x, is that a team mate or an oponnent.
I’ve seen the update, brother. Just because Gaijin adds a few unique vehicles doesn’t mean the growing number of copy-paste top-tier tanks isn’t a problem.
One good update doesn’t change the overall trend.
Then… Don’t?
Nobody is holding you at gunpoint to spend your time, money nor energy. Norway uses the Leopard 2A8, Australia uses the F/A-18F.
Britain, Japan, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Finland & Israel use the F-35. Are we going to start complaining about tech tree uniqueness when that comes too? Is the F-35B going to be claimed to be a copypaste of the F-35A? It’s just modern military hardware.
Exactly. When both sides are driving the same tanks, it starts to feel less like different nations fighting and more like a Leopard 2 civil war. xD
Nobody said Gaijin should ignore real military equipment.
And yes, I can simply choose not to grind it. That’s exactly what I’ll do.
But that doesn’t mean I can’t criticize the direction the game is taking.
Historical accuracy and good game design aren’t the same thing. Just because 10 countries operate the same aircraft doesn’t automatically mean adding it to 10 tech trees makes the game more interesting.
bro im talking about all the QoL and mechanic changes we’ve gotten, sure even if you dont like the changes it still shows that gaijin are more than capable or changing mechanics and adding vehicles in the same update
People who act like tech trees have uniqueness have never seen shermans.

Uniqueness hasn’t been at the table for years now.
That is why I worry about adding the same vehicles in like 5 different branches. Creating sub-tree nations like South Africa, Finland etc was a great idea since it helped those respective nations out a lot. However, there should be a decision made like in Sweden’s case it already has super top tier tanks in does not require to have one more therefore, it should not be added. In terms of planes Sweden needs Norway big time Grippens are not enough but tanks they dont need extra top tier, they already have their own beasts.
Ah, I see what you mean now. You’re right, Gaijin can clearly do both. My concern is more about the long-term trend of top-tier vehicles becoming increasingly similar across nations.
Fair point, but just because copy-paste vehicles have been around for years doesn’t mean we should stop caring about tech tree uniqueness.
And 51 Shermans aren’t exactly something I’d want to see repeated with Leopard 2s at top tier. xD
Good.
Correct.
Correct. It makes the game fair. 1 nation shouldn’t get a vehicle that is not unique to them, especially when other nations have not received a vehicle of its type in years.
Except the entire premise of your post was complaining about the 2A8NO being added. Which is real military equipment that isn’t being ignored. So what exactly is the problem here?
That is just the reality of modern weapon procurements. Many nations simply do not have the industrial capacity (or incentive) in the 21st century to produce their own weapons.
Exactly. Sub-trees are a great idea, but that doesn’t mean every vehicle needs to be added. Sweden already has some of the strongest top-tier MBTs in the game. I’d much rather see the Strv 123 than another Norwegian Leopard 2A8.
Nor does it even make sense to do so for interoperability purposes. France only just canned their FAMAS.
the only thing gaijin could do to fix that is simply not adding vehicles, and that isnt really great for the game and it ignores that some people DO want these vehicles added to the game for representation of their nations tanks or planes in game
My problem isn’t that the 2A8NO exists in real life. It’s whether adding it actually improves the game.
Sweden already has some of the strongest top-tier MBTs. I’d rather see the Strv 123 added instead.
Just because a vehicle exists doesn’t mean Gaijin has to add every version of it to every possible tech tree.
There’s a difference between giving a nation what it needs and just adding more of the same.
I understand that. But we’re talking about a video game, not real-world military procurement. Gaijin still has choices about what to add and when. Realism matters, but so does keeping the game interesting.
Not every addition will improve the game. There are plenty of past additions that frankly add nothing to the game. Even unique vehicles can add nothing to the game if it doesn’t actually a role in the current meta.
Look at the F-14D. It is “unique”, being america’s best tomcat. It added nothing substantial. Its gameplay is identical to the F-14B, BVR larp slinging aim-54s then rtb.
