2025 → 2025
Gaijin just cant “FIX” it because remember its all Propaganda just like the Leo 2A7Vs armor and the Stingers 20G Overload
The tech mods have accepted all first-party documentation so far. The problem is that very little of it directly describes the characteristics that seem to need changing in order to hit the performance the documentation describes. Therefore deciding what to change about the missile is still a difficult task for Gaijin.
If you’ve got a first party document describing the top speed, great, but just complaining about supposed bias helps no-one and risks the forum mods stepping in and locking the thread.
IRIS-T SLM is still so bad that gaijin ruined him
SLM when announced vs SLM in game
Pain
I feel that!!!
You can say about the missile what you want, BUT this looks reaaaally good
so slm looking the same as before?
So cool but I’d still rather click on a list than the radar blips, seems really awkward XD
it also feels realy wierd xD
I hope we get to the UI shown in the dev server with the map overlay and everything, that one looked awesome.
any update on the slm being nerfed or buffed yet?
or any new report changes and sources?
I mean, we are getting closer to it, so…
I’m frustrated by whether IRIS-T SLM can still get reductive performance, and I doubt that gaijin will make a junk IRIS-T SLM to ensure the absolute crushing performance of the Pantsir S1
Oh i beg to differ, something hand held built by a dude in a garage is able to melt a penny in seconds (https://youtu.be/UBVlL0FNbSE?si=mwrXjz81TYSj0WDY&t=598).
I don’t think you should need that much more to be able to destroy the seeker (or the glass in front of it) of a missile. The hard part would likely be to aim well enough to be able to do it at any reasonable distance.
“no see it can burn a penny from like 1 yard away”
Tell me you know nothing about how directed energy works in 5 seconds.
I did say:
I just assumed that i didn’t have to go into a deep dive on physics in a short post.
Except that you are still demonstrating your lack of understanding on the subject. The aiming of the device is actually the easy part, though you could argue the precision required past that to target the seeker takes it to another level.
You are completely ignoring the physical properties of lasers and directed energy as a whole in that it must be orders of magnitude stronger to achieve similar results at range.
Burning a penny at ~1 yard means nothing in comparison to guaranteed defeating a missile at 200+ and 500+ yards as it currently exists with their implementation on the dev server.
Edit: LMAO soft
im not sure if this was already posted but doesnt it state in here https://web.archive.org/web/20171208193719/http://www.diehl.com:80/fileadmin/diehl-defence/user_upload/flyer/GBAD_Flyer_e_2017.pdf that it is imune agasint direct laser counter messure?
First of, language.
Again, i was countering your point of it being possible to put on a helicopter, which you could easily do in terms of size and power when you look at current systems and their capabilities, if your aiming just to be able to destroy the seeker/glass of an IIR AAM you need less power than to be able to burn a hole clean through a mortar round for example.
The hard part would still be aiming as all other current systems of that kind are either stationary or on large ships. The vibrations and other movements of a helicopter is going to make aiming way harder for a beam of sufficient concentration and to be precise enough to hit that smal of a target.
I’m not ignoring this at all. Only the actually laser module needs to be on the outside, the rest of the system could be in the main body of a helicopter. Perhaps not the smaller helicopters but no real problem to fit in the medium sized ones (you wont be able to fit much else though). There are already anti drone lasers that fit on smal buggies:
You could easily fit something thrice that size in the back of a Blackhawk.
