SLM failing against Brimstones
So further testing showed that the missile was effectively depleted of most of it’s energy at 29km away @ 3500m altitude. It took 118 seconds (basically double the time of the Overberg testing) to reach, and still did not intercept. It is clearly not capable of intercepting a ‘maneuvering target’ at 30km away.
Keep in mind I was flying at around 110 km/h, which is well below the maximum speed of the slowest target drone used during the testing (DO-DT25 drone with a max speed of 555 km/h).
The distance and altitude are well within IRIS-T SLM’s effective range envelope.

The missile is still heavily underperforming

I don’t think that’s the issue. In fact, wouldn’t the ballistic cap be more aerodynamic and therefore less drag?
Keep in mind that most sources mention an effective range of 40 km or a maximum range of more than 40 km. Speeds of 200–400 km/h at those distances wouldn’t seem very effective to me (if it could even reach that far in game).

Drag of the Iris T SLM at 13km height is pretty much identical to Rafale Drag with 0% engines AND break flaps deployes
The drag force or the deceleration? It seems probable to me the drag force is excessive, but it is important to specify which of the two you mean as lighter objects will decelerate faster under the same drag force.
for those who have the SLM, would be nice if you keep an eye if you have your Missile appearing on radar (just visible, no lock) + if it appears on the target plane (appears currently as an snigle prop via typ)
